Default shifter surround

Hey,
I don't know if this has been talked about. I have an 7at and I was wondering if anyone has put a 6mt shifter surround with boot on an automatic. I am sure that some modification would need to be done to the top of the boot. I am not trying to make the car something it is not I just think it looks better. A little less plastic never hurt anything. If it has been done a link would be great. Thanks.

This has been talked about before, but never done. I love how the 7AT drives, but not too impressed with the looks of it. I've been meaning to talk to a custom shop about doing a set up like this:

but with a normal color scheme. Unfortunately, from this pic, you can't see how the boot attaches. Other car manufacturers put boots on autos, so it's not like you're wanting to pose as a manual. It would really look good IMO.

Also, the 7AT has an indicator in the instr. cluster, so you know where you are.

The way that they connected the boot to the shifter seems like it is a little sloppy. You wouldn't need that much material on the boot to allow the shifter to shift down through all of the positions. It would need to be cleaner if I was going to consider doing this mod.

Yeah, they kind of puffed it up a bit. I wouldn't use that much material either.

How do you use a manu shift knob when you need to push a button to change gears on the automatic. How would you depress the button?
