Stillen Roof Wing
i received my Stillen roof wing in the mail yesterday after missing the Fedex guy the first time lol. It just needs to be painted and its good to go!
The fitment seems pretty good its a little hard to tell by the pictures but it seems pretty straight on. It came with the double side tape already applied and i was ensured that this will keep it on the car even at excessive speeds. And here are the pics, i took just placed the wing on the window and held it with two little peices of tape. and the money shot i used my cell phone to snap the quick pix but you get the idea.

It's position looks like it relocates the air flow deflection force more toward the CG point of the car which in essence would decrease any downward force on the wheels.
One could argue that the downward force would now be to the immediate front of the rear wheels instead of behind the rear wheels at the rear deck lid wing. But because any deflaction force with this wing is now moved more than half the distance toward the CG point of the car it would lessen the amount of downward force being generated over the wheels. So someone please explain what is it's advantage as the physics resulting from its location seems to suggest a possible disadvantage. |

I doubt it gives much downforce... its more than likely a spoiler rather than a wing. In which case, it is breaking up the airflow so air doesnt stick to your rear window and cause drag.
Would work even better if it were a vortex generator ala the WRC ones that made their way into the aftermarket scene. Last edited by RCZ; 05-07-2010 at 06:50 PM. |
