I think all the colors on your thought list are good colors and all you will be happy with.
I would try to lay down a solid idea what you want to do besides the body color, ie black fangs, door handle color, rear valence, side skirt, headlights, etc.
Weight the body color v. what color those items will be.

If not gold, what about silver? More specifically, Quicksilver FX from the MK4 supra. It's one of my all-time favorite car and color.
