Interior soaked
WTF was nissan thinking with this automatic windows down feature on the key fob. I must have leaned on mine in my front pocket last night and I unknowingly put my windows down during a rain storm. My interior literally has puddles... whats the best way to dry it all out? Also how do I go about removing this insanely stupid feature from my key. I know this has happened to a few ppl has nissan done anything about it? Is my interior screwed or is there a chance I can save it?

Wow dude that sucks. I never had this problem with my Altima, I use to pop the trunk all the time from my pocket. Anyways I would have to say a blow dryer is your best bet.
|
If you don't have a wet/dry vac now is the time to buy one. I would get that dry and air it out asap.
|
There's a thread on here describing how to dry out an interior. Something like wet vac + towels + a dehumidifier. You should be able to save her though. Sorry about your problem.

Ok it looked bad at first but after soaking up all the the puddles and drying everything with towels I turned the heat up all the way and its been sitting for about 2 hours full blast and its looking pretty good. Another hour and I think ill be set if not im gonna go for a dehumidifier. But damn hell of thing to wake up to this morning.

Should get the dehumidifier anyways to prevent mold.

damn thats going to smell awful. go buy one of those baking soda boxes and place it in the car.

umm dont run the heater lol its the opposite of a dehumidifier... seriously... you are pinching a couple hundred bucks to save the interior of a 35k car... If i were you I would first invest in a garage and then look into a dehum...

You might also try a product called DampRid. They sell it at the grocery store and Walmart, etc. It's a small tub of dessicant that draws moisture out of the air. |
It's a cool feature but can be annoying. There were nights when I walked out to my car (before going to bed) in heavy rain to make sure windows weren't down by mistake :shakes head:
|
I've yet to have an issue but then again I don't carry my fob in my pocket.
|
wow!! i had no idea it did that. to do it u hold the unlock button i guess!!

You should work fast whatever you do... If it gets mildewed, good luck EVER getting rid of the smell.
|
Well you guys were right as usual I went out and bought the smallest dehumidifier I could find which was a 25 pint one that just barely fit in the car. Turns out there was over a gallon of water I didnt see. Its all good now and back to having the new car smell. Thanks for the advice.
