Anyway, I got home and immediately washed it but, even with some tar/sap remover, I still have streaks of the goo.

Need recommendations to polish that crap out without damaging my clearcoat.

Thanks.

Add a banana and/or hot fudge and I'd say you're good to go.

you could use dishwashing fluid but you'll need to wax and polish afterwards

Okay, I know I should search and read, but since I've got a few nice people "subscribed" let me take advantage.

I haven't done "real" waxing for years. Usually I bucket wash with a car wash soap like Turtle Wax Ice and then use a spray wax. I do this frequently and figure is almost as good as less frequent "serious" wax.

If I use clay, what follows? I assume I have to do something like this:

1. Dawn the wax off
2. Clay the crap off
3. Wash again?
4. Wax

So is spray wax good enough? Do I have to do a large area with the clay for uniformity?

Thanks.

You got lucky my friend. Mythbusters was testing the myth that a slushy thrown from an oncoming car could smash a windshield. And guess what? It did

I saw that! The windsheild took the brunt of the impact so there wasn't too much risk of physical harm from the impact, but the windscreen was so screwed you'd crash.

Wash and clay the area. Then wax right after.

Or you could go all out and wash, clay, polish, final polish, sealant, glaze and then wax.

Does your car smell like strawberries now? Kinda funny since your car is red... LoL!

I'm starting to see humor again - and yes the red paint helped.
Seriously about the slushy? I'm pretty sure I took it right on the nose in front of the driver's side head lamp based on the spray pattern. I guess I know where they got the idea now. Thank you mythbusters!

I'll pick up some clay tonight and just to the clay/wax thing and hope that gets it.

I'm afraid it's not debris in the clearcoat but some kind of etch from the acidity of the drink or something. We shall see.

The best part is that I would normally have had the top down...luckily not just then or my car would smell like straw-fracking-berries.

I clay bar about once a season, I LOVE Adams Polish clay bar with the quick detail spray then follow up with a wash and wax. Paint is so smooth afterwards.

So all you guys do is wax? Interesting.

I tend to do 2 major details a year... Spring and Fall.

Wash, Clay, Wash, polish (various grades if necessary), finishing polish/glaze, sealant, wax.
