Kenchan, thanks for the update. we will be looking at this also. I know what you mean we have to work around things. Even if we made the strut part smaller in length i think the silver part of the strut will still hit that fender piece.

I noticed in the last pic in your review the hood looks perfect!

Mine came in today. I also have a few pre-fabbed ball plates coming to relocate the fender ball in toward the engine a bit (outside the trim) so there won't be rubbing on the plastic battery cover or need for any tweaking/modification. These should be here tomorrow or Fri. so I'll play around with a few alternative mount points and let everyone know.....Should be a simple, inexpensive mod..

Mine arrived today also, and I am going to wait to install until I see your results. What you bought I assume is something we can all just buy anywhere or are you going to "tweak" those pieces also?

Modshack-sounds good. I'm curious if your mod can clear the battery cover side (housing side of the damper) cause that's where it rubs most. The stackup requires about another 10mm so relocating the hood side ball joint could potentially help too...unless one just removes the battery cover and surround completely.

The shaft side not so much rubbing...maybe 3mm clearance is all I needed so bending that ledge down helped.

Anyway I'm interested what you come up with.

Reconfirming once again you're a wimp.

Just do it... try it and come up with ideas. I want to see and try other's ideas although mine is looking pretty damn perfect right now using nothing but ryan's kit.

if I have the last 2-3% would be 100% perfect.

I will still take them into work with me tomorrow because at lunch as become my simple mod time lately. My friend & I might still do it, plus it will give us a chance to see if they fit or not and can come back and help with our results.

While I had the damper off the car to bend the ledge I even did a revert to stock look on my DIY just in case someone doesn't like the mod. It looks pretty much factory so there's really no risk.

And the hood can take quite a beating before it bends so don't think it's as fragile as you may think. If you have a CF hood, you're on your own.

Modshack, as we discussed earlier here are a couple of pictures of the lower mount on my CTD dampers on the 350Z. After looking at my 350Z kit I'm with you it looks like the lower mounting point for the ball on the 370Z kit needs to be moved in toward the engine.

Seems from your pics and description that the barrel of the strut rubs/presses on the Battery cover where it angles out to meet the ball and crosses the "Ledge". My thinking is to move the fender balls in toward the center and possible raise them so the barrel lays down parallel to the ledge and inside it. A pair of these ball plates are only $2 so it's worth a shot. Ryan may want to duplicate if it provides an interference free soluion. More soon!

The lower mounting point may need to be raised too. Like the lower bracket does on my 350Z CTD dampers.

Modshack- sounds good!

The 350Z's damper setup looks like my G's damper setup. The dampers are much shorter and more inline with the fender line.

The one thing I couldn't overcome was just the physical size of the damper housing. Meaning you can lay it flat on the battery cover with the shaft end disconnected and it still rubs. One of the first things I tried when it first bottomed out. So decided it might be easier just to lower the battery cover surround piece because it is literally a stackup issue. (Well, in my case).

Interesting. When I first saw the size of the dampers I wondered how they would filt under the hood. There isn't a lot of space vertically between the bottom of the hood and the battery surrond with the hood closed.

Also it seems to me that the upper and lower mounting points should be in more of a straight line.

We tried running it straight and there seems to be no way it will work! it pushed so hard the hood almost wouldnt close!
