Oh snap, Carbon fiber rear hatch dampners...

Looking forward to your results, a bit concerned now about getting these and having the rubbing issue(s).

i think the primary reason why your test car didn't appear to rub is because your tech removed the seal and fender cover ledge entirely from the ball joint aft.

then the plastic cover just flexes downwards freely when it gets pushed down by the damper housing.

it's not bad though. im a pretty picky guy and this is still okay for me.

So you think with removing the full rubber piece will not cause rubbing?

That seems logical, but I would rather not have to remove but a small piece of the seal like you did.

i think the cover (battery/brake cover surround piece) is still rubbing but it can flex more freely so you'll have less bulge. this is just my guess but it makes sense if you saw how the car is put together.

I will see what I can do when I get mine in, I still have my stock pieces to compare to and removing the rubber is not a huge concern unless I find issues closing/opening the hood.

just becareful when you're pulling down the hood from full-open position so that you dont work against the dampers too much initially. once the dampers start compressing it will be very smooth and the hood will shut like normal.

once you unlatch and pull up the hood to open, it opens pretty quickly so might want to keep a hand on it just in case so you dont upper-cut yourself.

Will make note of that, will try to slowly close the hood and run some grease or something to see exactly how much is touching and if there is any quick solution.
