CF License plate considered "RICE"??!

Ok, just the other day I had purchased a CF license plate holder for the rear because I didnt like the look of my License plate just stuck on the rear without a holder.

my friend and I had a huge debate as to this being rice or not.

Its just a simple, CF Plate with no "LEDs" around them or with any underglow kit or doesnt say anything on it like "FAST N FURIOUS". I will post pics once I receive them! =)

He insisted that it was rice and that certain things arent meant to be cf.

Well that I agree "certain things arent meant to be cf" but he himself has a 350z that has a CF Nismo overlay sticker that goes on his B Pillar. !@!#$#@

UGH!! Just venting.

What do you guys think?

wishihadnav 04-21-2010 11:20 AM

yes its rice.

Modshack 04-21-2010 11:27 AM

Rice! (your buddy too)

batman_4 04-21-2010 11:36 AM

i don't think its rice, unless you claim to shave weight which is BS.

phelan 04-21-2010 11:39 AM

do his carbon fiber vinyls add 20 hp per pillar??

lol nahh i just like the look of it. thats all.

kenchan 04-21-2010 11:52 AM

if it had like hello kitty decals then it will not be rice... just something else.

zmyride 04-21-2010 12:52 PM

actually i like the rear license plate without the holder. NOT rice!

CWofRR 04-21-2010 12:53 PM

i agree with batman haha

Liquid_G 04-21-2010 01:11 PM

both sounds ricetastic to me.. why not just buy the Z plate frame

InTheZone 04-21-2010 01:17 PM

no it wouldn't be rice, as long as it was a real CF frame, no stickers or prints on it. But I'd get the tinted plate cover instead.

shoopajae10 04-21-2010 01:26 PM

i thought about the z plate too but i just wanted something simple with no decals.. and i came across the cf plate. looked simple.

darkseed 04-21-2010 01:41 PM

rice.. CF=meant for less weight, cept your friend is MORE rice so he should GTFO!

shoopajae10 04-21-2010 01:44 PM

^^ he is a member of the my350z site. so it should be fine =/

The thing is though, it's a good looking weight saver, so not everything is about making your car lighter when using it. As long as using CF isn't overdone on a car(like fake CF overlay on the hood or rooftop), far from rice.

Zigen5 04-21-2010 02:34 PM

If you like it then go for it... Everyone is going to have their own opinion...

shoopajae10 04-21-2010 02:40 PM

well i like it. thats why i ordered it! =)

Of course its not for performance. lol taking a lisence plate as a performance mod is silly. especially thinking your going to save weight by getting it as CF.

Its just a simple CF look that looks nice than a plain plastic one with decals or logos on it.

WICKED_GRIN 04-21-2010 03:13 PM

shoopajae10 04-21-2010 03:25 PM

CBRich 04-21-2010 04:57 PM

How about when he buys a 370 he can decide how it will look.

DjSquall 04-21-2010 05:01 PM

CF is pretty strong too, don't forget. It isn't always chosen for just the weight savings.

Also a lot of the "stainless" license plate frames rust after a year of use, so you would be avoiding that as well.

shoopajae10 04-21-2010 05:13 PM

Brown rice is healthier.

Can stainless steel rust? Why? (I thought stainless did not rust!)
Answer: Stainless does not "rust" as you think of regular steel rusting with a red oxide on the surface that flakes off. If you see red rust it is probably due to some iron particles that have contaminated the surface of the stainless steel and it is these iron particles that are rusting. Look at the source of the rusting and see if you can remove it from the surface. If the iron is embedded in the surface, you can try a solution of 10% nitric and 2% hydrofluoric acid at room temperature or slightly heated. Wash area well with lots and lots of water after use. Commercially available "pickling paste" can also be used.

PapoZalsa 04-21-2010 07:11 PM

Come on, this is not a Honda Forum!

not sure if you're joking or not, but lower grades of stainless steel, probably what's used in license plate frames, can rust.

fatcat777 04-21-2010 08:02 PM

yup. rice

brakedrift12 04-22-2010 05:48 AM

I like most of the carbon fiber made stuffs, yet, CF license plate just seems too much or too cheesy to me :)

Vegitto-kun 04-22-2010 05:57 AM

might be rice but I AM wondering how it would look

OH yeah the "tuning" community here thinks cars like these are not rice

InTheZone 04-22-2010 02:57 PM

lol tuners and ricers nothing alike. Ricers can apply to domestic cars as well, such as:
http://www.alluglycars.com/data/medi...stang_rice.jpg

the stang and those 2 cars above, just ugly ha(not talking about the R8)

simota1 04-22-2010 04:21 PM

as long as its real carbon then not really man... if its that fake printed on carbon.. then yes.... its your car do what you want man... i ordered carbon fiber side mirror covers..... some people will think its rice... but i dont care... its an accent piece in my opinion..... and its REAL carbon not a sticker or that printed on type...

370Zsteve 04-22-2010 04:36 PM

rice rice rice. If it's Japanese, I hate to tell you guys, it's rice. A lotta haters out there :ugh2:
