Maybe that scraping sound isnt the chin spoiler.

So I was under my car taking the cat's off (got the Berk HFC) when I noticed a bunch of scrapes on various plastic parts and some metal braces. I've had the car for a little over two weeks and it has about 2200 miles. The worst damage was to the right rocker panel/side skirt. It is scratched really bad, like someone took a cheese grater to it. The splash guard behind the left front wheel is pretty bad too. You cant see the damage unless you are lying on the ground but I know its there and it bugs me.

Not sure if this happened at the dealer before I got the car. It is very possible that I was the cause of the damage. I am not used to such a low car. I know I have heard some plastic scraping on the ground when I go into a friends driveway but I assumed that it was the chin spoiler. I'll see next week if that is where it is happening. I have tried many different ways of going up the driveway to not make it scrape. I thought I had it figured out. Guess the car will stay in the street when I go over there from now on.

If it doesn't work diagonally then it won't work at all...

before I bought my car I had the dealer let me test drive it to my house to see if it would make it up my driveway so I could figure out as early as possible if I would need to move :P

Thats the right attitude. My uncle had a friend who got a Ferrari. Kept scraping when he turned into his driveway. Sold his house that week hahahaha.

Hhahaha I did the same thing! I scrape if a back out/pull in my driveway straight on. I just need to approach on a slight angle and I'm good to go. Kinda a pain when the recycling and garbage are at the end of the driveway though

Until the snow plow comes

You can get 'em right here, but it seems a lot cheaper to just pull in to the driveway diagonally. In fact, you can almost buy three replacement chin spoilers for the price of that driveway thing!

That may be true but how much do you think this would cost to replace?

Keep in mind that I have only had the car for about 2 weeks. And I have only heard the scrape a hand full of times. If this were happening at my house, I'd be buying one of those driveway thingies.

And I have been taking it at an angle. Every angle I could try.

Would anyone say anything about the water not flowing in the right direction with it starts raining? Stupid question, I know. Just curious...

You're completely bottoming out while going over something at an angle. Otherwise the rest of your undercarriage would be scraped too. Um, go slower or go around?
