I was looking at the damage again. Did you drive thru a drive thru? Some have very narrow paths.

Nope. I avoid those kind of things on purpose.

That looks like its from a "gator" strike from rolling over a tire tread on the highway.

Gator strike? :icon14:

Nissan dealership said it looks like a crack :shakes head:

They can try to fix it with something called a hot spot or something

Here in the US tire tread that has come off of a truck or whatever is called by some a 'gator' as in Alligator becuase I guess it resembles Alligator skin. So when you get wacked by a piece of this tread sitting on the road its called a 'gator strike' Truckers use the term alot.

sorry dude about the trunk scratch-I feel for you. We love these cars and pay a lot for them-so when they are imperfect we mourn the loss of the perfection. That's all.
I had an invisible bra on my 350 Z-it was great. Just bought a roadster in dark cherry and I had it Simonized right away. Might get another bra too.
Look on autogeek.com and see if they have any products to reduce the appearance of that scratch-you will feel better once it is not glaring at you, my friend.:driving:

Do you live under a rock??? Yea exactly that - a gator strike. That's the highway driving slang reference for a blown tire tread scrap.

And yes again - they do exactly that kind of scratching and cracking to plastic bumpers due to the cord wires that run through the tread and stick out of the scrap and because the rubber tread sticking up will catch teh underside of the bumber of low setting cars.

I know this kind of car damage for an ABSOLUTE fact because it scratched, cracked and sliced up my front bumper on my Shelby Mustang GT right where the bumper curves under to the chin skirt. It looks 100% exactly like what the picture shows in the original poster's message.

He lives in Belgium - don't think they have many 'gators there... :)

Oooppppps!!!!! DUH!!! My bad!

Vegitto-kun 04-21-2010 03:53 AM

I see gators once in a while but never on the road itself so I am sure I didn't hit one. But yeah, since I live in belgium we don't use terms like "gator"

my dad drove the car for a full day once. I suspect him but he says he knows nothing.

the temperature meter being at 120 celcius instead of the normal 90 makes me doubt that. :shakes head:

So now I have to pay for something I didn't cause. :shakes head:

Reminds me of that one time my front spoiler was broken in half. Dad drove the megane the whole day back then. Goddamnit I really should tell him to keep the **** out of my cars.

If he wants to bang up cars he should bang up his GT-R :shakes head:
