black on black headlights??? Need Help!
 

So i have a black Z and am going to do the LED headlight mod very soon. Have the supplies ordered and ready to go but need some quick suggestions. I have been looking around for pictures but cant seem to find any but I am thinking of painting the housings black to match the car while leaving the rings inside silver. What are your opinions on the color? Should I paint it black or leave it chrome and just do the LED's? Any pictures with black headlights would be a huge help too! Thanks guys!

I would leave the rings silver and not do any LEDs... but that's me... The whole LED thing is getting a little too played out.

What can I say I am a trend setter!!! lol even though Amplified was first...

I did it to mine it doesnt look to bad. Ill try to get pics up..

Thanks for the suggestions guys and the possible pics! Found FuPaXxTyTy's pics of his head lights and that's kind of a cool idea too. He left the chrome on the outside of the headlights alone and just painted the center black. Don't like the orange parts on his but I'd leave those silver anyways.

there are pix in my sig. there just all flat/satin black. nothing special. i dont like the LED's. just me though

Paint it a dark grey colour, looks sweet in the pic I saw awhile ago. Can't find it now....

If you do a black housing go with darker shrouds... Trust me light color shrouds make your car look like it's on crack!!! Lol it's wierd looking but eye catching too

Tony your matches your color and blue isnt that bright but Caravans white literally looks like his car just got done doing a line!!! LMAO

On mine I did the entire housing flat black but had the 2 headlight shrouds done in gloss black.. I was just looking thru my pics.. they all kind of suck but this was some i had.

I'm liking the flat black housing with the gloss black shrouds. I'm definitly looking for a suttle contrast and that's pretty sharp! The dark gray housing sounds interesting too! Would like to see that! N 2theextreme, your car looks sick! Love the blue with carbon fiber. And your headlights look awesome! That's what I'd do if I had a blue z. Haha. Hey, I'm thinking about doing a very similar job on my black Z. Can I talk you into taking some better picks (less glare) of your headlights? I think it looks good, but want to see it a little better.

Also, who did your work for you?

We did that setup for one of our clients as well. Matte black housing with glossblack/magnetic black shrouds. Here are his pics:

So I was at the auto parts store yesterday and came across this stuff called shadow. I duno if anybody has seen or used this stuff before. It was the first time I have seen it. But it's a two can set and is used for blacking out chrome. It comes with the paint and clear. It's more or less a translucent black paint that still allows the chrome to show through. I used it on a couple small chrome parts I had laying around and it looked pretty good. So I'm thinking I'm going to used this on my head lights now and paint the rings gloss black. Hey if I don't like it I'll just paint them the flat black I originally intended on. Thought I'd share my find with everyone and see what your thoughts are and if anybody has used this stuff before and if it worked well.

Id post pics but there all the same from one black z to another. I get so many looks and MR Works did an outstanding job with the best service.

lol was probally me heading to work, Everything is still working great not zero problems, just looking for the next mod, thinking rims but dont know where to go and want light weight

chrome and gloss black
 

I have a black z and I was wondering what yall thought about leaving the housing chrome with the shrouds, landing strip, and reflector strip in gloss black. I like the look of the blacked out housing but think this might be a different look.

I was wondering about the same thing. I would love to see if anybody painted their shrouds and strip black but left the rest of the housing chrome. Pictures please....:pics:

Did my headlights yesterday. Decided to go flat black with gloss black surrounds. The shadow paint stuff I got to try and tint the chrome looked like ***. Haha so I decided to just go with flat black with gloss black surrounds. Came out very nice and with the help of the diy thread was pretty straight forward. I'm happy with the results and below are some pictures of the results. The LEDs are very bright and almost looks like my headlights are on in one of the pics!
