My interior gripes
For the most part the interior is a HUGE step up from the 350Z. I do have a few gripes.
The bezel surrounding the shifter (the one that looks like a certain cartoon mouse) is made of soft plastic. It scratches very easily. Mine already has two deep and noticeable scratches. And...On the touring seats it would be great to have adjustable bolsters. Again on the seats if you put your head on the head rest the whole seat back flexes. RANT OVER

HAHA. I do have a fairly large head. I don't wear rings though. I can't figure what could of scratched it but regardless the plastic is extremely soft.

Ouch... nothing new. The aluminum "ring" around the shift boot is soft and gets dents easily. Plus, the silver paint on the shift knob peels over the years. Do you think it's possible to get some sort of vinyl sticker to protect it?

Active Head Restraint System
What you are feeling when you press up against the back of the seat is the Active Head Restraint System used to help reduce whiplash in an accident. If you can get your hands on a brochure, it will show a diagram regarding them.

It's not the knob it's the mickey mouse shaped bezel surrounding the shifter assembly. The one with the hazard light switch built in it.

I love everything from the old 350z interior. Yes I like the new better quality feel but the steering wheel of this car is just GAY I have never seen a worse steering wheel.

Directly from Nissan's 370Z marketing brochure; AK has also provided the brochure here: 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe Brochure .pdf If you push your back into the seat next time you are in your 370Z, you will feel it push the headrest forward.

I definately agree that it is the active head restraint system that causes the weird feeling. Thanks for clarifying with the diagram.
But I just wanted to mention that there are other cars that have the active head restraints that do not have this feeling. |
