3M or bra for hood
Hi All,
Wanted to get everyones ideas/opinions on protecting the hood and lip of the Z. I live in Boston and just purchased a 40th anniversary and want to keep her scratch/bug free, which might seem impossible living up here. Whats the best ways to protect the paint of the car, i heard someone say that I need to apply 3M to it? How much is that and does it really work/worth it? Any ideas on how to protect it? |

YEA! I say NO BRAs, and post pics of them with no bra. Wait thats in the NSFW section where you can see with no bras.

Doing the front bumper and hood be prepared to pay at least $500 to get 3M clear bra installed. If you by a cloth bra it will end up holding dirt and bugs underneath it overtime and f*ck up the paint eventually.
I wish I would have gotten a clear bra for my Z after all my work done, do it ASAP |

It's definitely a smart idea, especially this time of year with all of the roads dug up!
I have a great installer that carries both Autobahnd and Ventureshield films. Feel free to drop me an e-mail if you are still interested in getting it done (Rickrack79@hotmail.com) |

Clear bra or Ventureshield isn't cheap, then again neither is having to get your Z re-painted should you wind up eating a big fat rock from some truck or car on the freeway. Invest up front and have some piece of mind afterward.

Everyone,
All of your comments on the 3M and Ventureshield clear film bras are very good. My concerns for its long-term effects are as follows: - Can water slowly seep below the film's surface? - Can temperature extremes change the quality of the film? - Will the film slowly peel? - Will the clear film turn cloudy? I would think that paint needs to breathe. If so, can the film be removed for that purpose? In summary, what if a high-quality paste wax was used more often on the front and top of the hood for protection and the rest of the vehicle for protection, would this not add a layer of protection against light sand, small stones and pebbles, flying bugs, et cetera? Any thoughts? spryor Last edited by spryor; 04-18-2010 at 04:29 AM. |
