Fu#k!ng black paint!!!

Decided to give my car a good clay, wash, and wax. When I was all done, I noticed several chips on the wheel arches, fenders, and hood. Now most of these are no bigger than the head of a pin, but there are many. I've just never had such difficulty taking care of a cars finish. Would it be wise to just touch these up and get the clear bra?

PapoZalsa 04-03-2010 08:41 PM

Black paint... that is your main problem. However every paint will get chips, the 370 for some reason is a rock chip magnet.

WICKED_GRIN 04-03-2010 08:45 PM

^^ and a rocking chick magnet

Do the touchup and clear ..... And pronto! It would be your best investment.

I have a black car with 12k on it and I have one small minor chip on the hood where the bra does not exist.

It get's worse, the side skirts get chipped as all hell. I'll take a pic tomorrow

I've been lucky as far as rock chips goes..but from washing at the car wash, there's many scratches that are very aggravating! But yes..I say do the touch up and do the clear bra. Will be very worthwhile for you. And btw.... black paint shows everything..just try and deal with that. It's very hard keeping a black car clean and flawless. I have atleast 10-20 scratches to touch-up :( Going to my body shop for those repairs.

using a brush will cause swirls no matter how clean it is.

If you're picky, don't get black.

I was pulling out my hair cause just by looking at the car it'll scratch!

Thank god I wrote it off! :)

nogoodname 04-04-2010 11:21 PM

mmmmmmmmmmm..... swirl free..... (for now)

Welcome to the world of black paint. These won't be the last blemishes you get, I can assure you. It might be wise to invest in some touch up paint.

i washed my car today only to later see the spots i missed, but its okay the car will be just as dirty again in 5 minutes

I KNOW your pain. My Lexus is Black and I REGRET ever getting that color. No matter how careful I am, I see swirls, and chips (didn't do Clear Bra).

So when we bought the 370z Roadster, we got WHITE! And VentureShield goes on this coming week.

Yeah, it's almost ridiculous sometimes. From five feet away you can't see anything, but up close there are just several pin point sized chips. Most of them on the hood and fender areas. I wonder if other colors have these as well, but they just aren't as noticeable?

While I don't regret getting black, because the car looks bloody amazing when clean, I will never buy a black car again; I'm just too OCD for it.
