Touring Seats in Base?

Is this possible? Do the proper connections exist for the power adjusters to work, or not? Anyone familiar with this that has done it already?

theDreamer 04-02-2010 09:02 PM

I would assume the power seats just need power since there is no memory feature or anything, but I am not 100% sure (I have a base Z also).

That was a quick response! Thanks!

The other thing is, will there be power wired under a base seat?
I would assume so for the airbags, but it might be different in the touring models.

Ill check out the service manual and look, maybe it'll show something. The power wouldn't be a problem, and neither would not having the memory. I assume without memory, the seats stay in the same spot when car is turned off, instead of moving backward and then forward again upon reentry. I am going to see how the cloth seats hold up for a while and then maybe go for a set of leathers someone is selling. I'm sure they will be easy to find. There is a set available now, but it is far too soon to change.

I just went through the manual real quick... looks like there are options, but they may be quite involved.

Your other option is just to have your base seats redone with leather, I meet someone in Houston that had hers done and the shop did a great job. Now you have no power movement or heated seats, but my driver seat never moves and I never need a heated seat in Texas.

Right, I dont care at all about the power movement or the heat, Im in florida, just the longevity of leather versus cloth. I plan on having this car A LONG time.

I'd be willing to bet the power connections are there -- perhaps hidden. They really want to have the cars be the same except for the specific upgrades -- they're coming off the same line the tourings just take a left turn through the better seats and stereo line

I know when I purchased my base Z I asked my dealer about leather heated seat upgrades, they said they could re-wrap my seats in the same fashion as the touring model's (leather outside, perf leather inserts) with the heated option for $1400. Ouch.

****, id return the heating option if i could get 1400$ back, my *** produces enough heat on its own, even in Canadian winters! i never use the option

There were a couple times this past January when I wished I had heated seats, but thinking about that means I would have to sit on cold leather. No thanks :D What I would prefer would be a heated steering wheel. Now that's something useful!

I live in el paso (just left upstate NY) and I use the heated seats early in the morning. Just nice to have the option.

The cooled seats of the roadster touring are nice. nothing like a blast of cold air through your nether regions to put you in the mood to drive
