for when there is documentation stating the difference in milage. If you had a service done and they had the original milage then they replaced the odometer with the lower milage then you would want to correct it as there is documentation stating a difference.

Right... but I know the mileage going in... So according to what you said, I should have it changed... There was no documentation given to me saying it was changed, just a service manager that said it was ok

yes YOU know it but if you were to trade the car in NO ONE else would know it as there is no documentation anywhere to prove otherwise. Now you can go in and have them fix it if that gives you piece of mind but thats more time for them on your car to F things up.

it's ONLY 300 miles. Also, as long as your dealer kept the mileage same in all their documents (during this job), it won't show up on carfax.

Sorry if I'm making a big deal over nothing... this just seems like its one of those things that shouldn't be messed up. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable buying a car knowing the odometer was wrong, regardless of the amount it was off (and I know I'm the only one who knows... I guess its integrity getting the best of me, I just don't want to deal with that, even IF it were to become and issue for some odd reason).
SoCal, Why post what the law says, and then turn around and tell me not to worry about the difference in mileage? |

The "dealership" imposes guilt upon you, and you feel bad about it? C'mon, screw-it and forget about it. This is not like you are hiding structural damage for the next prospective buyer that could mean a life-safety issue. Sue the dealership for psychological damages...the bastards have ruined your life!
