BIZZARE NOISE..from unlocking doors
 

I did a forum search cause i could of sworn i saw a post similar to this but nothing showed up. so the other day when it was raining, im parking my car and when i press the unlock button on the door, i heard a really bizarre buzzing/rattling noise. I did it several times and it kept doing it. it was coming from the hatch area. in my video you can hear it buzzing/rattling 2/3 times i unlocked the doors.the noise even had a different tone for each occasion O.o . it was really really loud too. but cant hear it well in the video. I want to take it to the dealer but it has happened on just random occasions and now stopped. I know the dealership is going to tell me they cant replicate it or watever.....

its HORRIBLE quality but you can see the door handle and if you up the volume you can hear the noise. I apologize for the quality, my camera phone absolutely sucks at recording at night.

heres the video you cant really see anything except for the inside door handle. again sorry for the suck horrible quality. dont have a digi cam =[

same with my fob not working, the day i told the dealer was the same day it decided to work properly, at least u have a vid of the problem

hmm funny.. glad its back working. this noise when i unlocked the doors though baffles me :icon14:

right?!?! it is the weirdest noise ever... i have no clue what would make the noise. so you guys can hear it in the videoo...very bizarre

Maybe the fuel lid lock actuator (solenoid) engaging and disengaging the lid tab.

^^^ that sounds right.. but why would it make the noise cause its freaking out? haha sorry dont know any technical terms..

maybe the fuel lid unlock is malfunctioning or stuck. try and open the fuel lid. see if it opens or not

the fuel lid is working fine. i was locking and unlocking soors, lid is good to go

so its actually coming from the fuel lid area.. its doing alot more now but still on and off. i unlocked the car doors the other day with my fob and put my ear next to the fuel lid and bingo thats where its coming from... i guess i have to go to the dealership AGAIN...:shakes head: man my Z keeps on getting this annoying little things wrong with it starting to get on my nerves =[

Hey man, any luck with this at the dealer? I noticed this on and off a few months after I got my car. It seems to be happening more often now. I'm surprised you're the only other person that is experiencing this.

yeah i actually got it fixed. i got REALLY lucky though, the dealer said it HAD to happen in front of them and when i brought it in it did it about 3-4 times then stopped. so i finally got them to fix it. they replaced the fuel actuator like the other member said ^^^. works fine now and no noises

it was still functional while it made the noise, correct? i donno, unless it actually stopped locking the gas lid i would've probably just used it as is...

it was still functional while making the noise, but it was SUPER loud even though its hard to hear in the video. I wouldnt be able to deal with it, just me though
