Do you tape over your Clear Bra? Or do you just toothbrush?

Well, to be exact, do you put a tape just a tad over the edge of the clear bra so that wax does not get mess up the glue? Or do you just wax over it and use a toothbrush?

I have waxed my car about 6 times already. Today, I was too lazy to put the tape and feeling semi-guilty. Interesting enough, I could see where the portions of the hood that did not get some wax (this would be about 3/16" from the edge of the clear bra.)

A good microfiber cloth takes the residue off at these junctions for me.

SoCal,

I have 2 buckets of Costco microfiber. Is it safe to assume that the wax has not affected your clear bra glue?

When I had mine done, I was told to not wax near the edge. I have the VentureShiield.

Yes, the shield adhesive is fine. The adhesive is only on the bottom of the bra, and not along the cut's edge.

That's only because it can leave an unsightly wax residue line. Also, some waxes are also a cleaner so be careful along the edge. I wax by starting about an 1/2 inch on the edge of the shield and then toward the direction of the paint, and onto the paint. I finish my detailing by using Plexus on the shield that also makes easy to clean any wax residue at the edge junction.

Simply use common sense and don't go bearing down at the junction and you'll be fine.

I wax over it, then use a wooden toothpick to clean the grooves.

Toothbrush??! :icon14: you're going to haze the finish and the bra.

just wax like normal (away from the edge, not towards it) and when you're ready to remove wax, take your fluffy MF towel, squirt a little bit of QD on the towel and gently and slowly drag the towel along the edge.

dont go fast cause heat will build up and potentially haze the finish and/or the bra. goodluck! :)
