3m Ni Doc carbon fiber vinyl

You might have a hard time getting it to adhere to the textured surface.

That's what I was thinking.

I think I'll order the size I need. If it works out, good... If it doesn't, I'll use it for other wrapping projects.

I'll definitely test out a small square on the door panel before wasting a $45 piece of vinyl on it.

Yeah, that's the thought that immediately popped into my head... except, for what the Di-Noc seems to be used is "rice" by most elitists' standards anyway. Hence, I don't care. It looks nice, I'll rock it. After all, CF wrapping is all about cosmetics anyway. Definitely no weight savings involved in wrapping an interior piece. But elitists will try to argue as though there is all kinds of merit in cosmetic CF wrapping.

I'm sure he's got some wood veneer somewhere in his office or home... tell him he's a ricer because he's too cheap to buy real wood furniture.

"Real" carbon is actually pretty cheap (relatively). The manufacturers dump huge markups on pieces half of the time -- and in the cases of companies like Seibon, it isn't even 100% carbon.

yah, i think the DiNoc will have problems adhereing to the door panels due to the texture.... you can probably get by if you use some adhesion promotor, but then it will be a premanent coating on your door. the beauty of these wraps is that you can remove it if you dont like how it turned out or want to change color down the road.

ofcourse wrapping it with real carbon fibers is an ideal way of going bout these projects
and there are kits that come with real weaves, resins, and polishes, etc but it's a lot of
work for basically the same thing... for aesthetics. the resin ones are more durable
though and have a very professional glossy finish like oem trim.

for me, these wraps do very well and since there's really no toxic chemicals involved
i can work on my car while my kids are playing nearby. it's easy to apply and really no
special tools involved.

I'm def not too "cheap" to buy real carbon fiber, but how the hell are you going to carbon fiber $hit like the steering wheel volume area, etc...

There are many different reasons why some of us members buy the 3M CF vinyl: for wrapping things that can't be carbon fibered, or just a novelty item to mess around with. To me this product would be rice, if for example you wrapped exterior items such as your hood, roof, etc and told people that it was real carbon fiber.

Plus, if you prefer the "dry" look this is a good alternative.

yah, especially for the b-pillars i like the dry-look. makes that part of the car not stand out so much and easier for the eyes to focus on the other lines of the car.

now the roof was a bit too much for me....

Anybody know a place where I can just send in my metra headunit trim piece and have it wrapped in real carbon fiber. I want it to match my the door pieces that I have that are real CF. The vinyl looks ok, but that piece is just too much of a PITA (damn 3 dials ) and I think its just going to keep bothering me, lol

All his carbon parts are custom made by some company in japan. he basically feels that it is insulting to the car to plaster it with carbon vinyl.

the power of speaking japanese
