Keep applying heat (not too hot) so that it won't change shape anymore. Seems to be the trick. |

It kinda helped alittle bit, but for the 3 dials you really have to curve it instead of a 90 degree wrap. Let's just say it's the best it's going to be.

unfortunately the film could not withstand the engine heat and unwrapped itself in a few areas... so if you're going to do this for a show, be sure to remove the cover until you're ready to display.
oil temp 210F degrees, ambient 78F, cover temp 164F right after the drive. the areas that were not stretched and wrapped over was fine though. |

Just an FYI since I saw the question somewhere. You cannot cover this in resin or anything like it. I work with real carbon and had some of the 3m stuff laying around so I tried to cover it in an epoxy. It causes it to just basically go black. Seems to be that it takes the texture out of it so now the lights not reflecting on it giving the carbon look.

hey thanks.
the adhesive left behind a permanent mark on the engine cover so i decided to prime, sand, and paint it glossy black using engine enamel paint. i could've just done regular matte-black but it would've been too stock looking for the amount of work put in. only noticeable to someone with a Z. |

Pin punctures to get rid of the air pockets seems to work at first..... Check it out after a couple weeks with the warm weather beating down on it. That invisible pin hole stretches and expands to a good size hole, just to stare back at you until the anal part of your personality makes you strip it and start all over again!!!

Just a hypothetical question, but do you all think I'd have any problems wrapping the upper vinyl on the door panels? Could it be done on the car with the doors open?
Looking to make that an initial phase of our fake CF wrapping project. After that will be the lower dash.
