Start from the inside, and work evenly to the outside edges. Just don't stretch the material too much under heat, as it retains some memory, and the indent areas will separate the first hot day.

this is not the 3M stuff, but you can do the same. i just had this stuff laying around... notice my CF pen...

boring trim...

i used a heatgun, hot to the touch but not super hot. and it contours to the plastic very well. it looks
better in person, i couldnt get the lighting right due to the reflection.

i have some of that stuff lying around man... damn you kanchan.. now i have a project when im bored.. and i get bored fast LMAO

can i use a hair dryer also? my heat gun is MIA at the moment

it's a real CF trim overlay CarID.net or CarID.com sells. i have one coming to me but do not plan on using all the bits. if the NiDoc sheets were glossy i would've just made my own but oh well.

yah, cut the outlines as close as you can, stick it on, heat it up and press it down and it will contour to the curves and lines. once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. unlike tint though, i dont use soapy solution for these.

Rednismo-I need to getz me more CF pens.

The pen I use has Black, Red, 0.5mm lead, and Stylus all built into the same unit. I just turn the pen so that the pen type I want to select is at 12 o'clock and press the button.

Very handy for these trim work.

I think I'm still going to get me the 3M stuff later on for the gauge hats. I want to wrap them with matte finish so it does not reflect sun too much.

Anyone think about wrapping their stock muffler can with this stuff?

wats the max temp the sheet can handle?

Yah, hair drier is fine, but I have this smaller heat gun that blows precisely to the part I'm heating. I put my thumb next to where I'm heating so that I can feel how hot the area is getting not to damage it.

Thanks guys. The CF film I had I bought a long time ago in Japan at a hobby shop. I'm not sure what the material is but I used it on previous car door switch trims and lasted a long time. Like yrs without fading.
Didn't have these nice 3M materials back then so we only had access to these printed simulated sheets. Its super thin and wraps very easily to the contours.

I have some other thicker CF looking stuff my wife bought in Japan long time ago which requires me to spray adhesive on the back side (or get some large thin double stick tape). I might use that for the door trims down the road.
