yes you can clear coat it

and whats the best technique to wrap shifter ring?

Start from the inside, and work evenly to the outside edges. Just don't stretch the material too much under heat, as it retains some memory, and the indent areas will separate the first hot day.

Thanks! :p I think I'm still going to get me the 3M stuff later on for the gauge hats. I want to wrap them with matte finish so it does not reflect sun too much.

Anyone think about wrapping their stock muffler can with this stuff? :D wats the max temp the sheet can handle?

fullmonty 06-30-2010 07:06 AM

Oh man this NiDoc stuff is like a wet dream. Kenchan- what is it you used on the steering wheel trim?

Jeffblue 06-30-2010 07:11 AM

looks cool

kenchan 06-30-2010 07:48 AM

Yah, hair drier is fine, but I have this smaller heat gun that blows precisely to the part I'm heating. I put my thumb next to where I'm heating so that I can feel how hot the area is getting not to damage it.

Thanks guys. The CF film I had I bought a long time ago in Japan at a hobby shop. I'm not sure what the material is but I used it on previous car door switch trims and lasted a long time. Like yrs without fading.
Didn't have these nice 3M materials back then so we only had access to these printed simulated sheets. Its super thin and wraps very easily to the contours.

I have some other thicker CF looking stuff my wife bought in Japan long time ago which requires me to spray adhesive on the back side (or get some large thin double stick tape). I might use that for the door trims down the road.

kenchan 06-30-2010 08:34 AM

Those gauge hats (3) are all the same size, correct? Anyone know? :p

simota1 06-30-2010 11:16 AM

pretty sure they are all the same size

kenchan 06-30-2010 11:33 AM

yah, from a manufacturing perspective i doubt they would use 3 different sizes. be too much work.

i ordered up some of that 3M stuff. :p should have it by Saturday, hopefully.

just a sidenote: my fujimura CF rear diffuser shipped... should have by Sat too. :p

simota1 06-30-2010 11:36 AM
