Calling all Windshield Wizards (Re Post)
Need to replace the cracked windshield on my 370Z coupe. It had an argument this week with a rock thrown from a utility trailer ... and lost:mad: Apart from the windshield itself, the FSM references a number of "spacers" that are required for the installation. (The Part Nos. are: 72715-1KE0A, 72715-1CA0A, and 72714-!MA0A). Before I order these parts, I'd like to know if the original spacers can be re-used ... or do they need to be replaced. Would appreciate hearing from those who have had their windshields replaced. Thanks in advance for your input.

You're attempting to replace the windshield yourself?

Maybe you can ask this gentleman?

Thanks for this Cooltoy. I'm going to check with JARblue since it seems he's replaced his windshield at least once ... and he's very meticulous.

Great idea.

If the shop is "very meticulous" and the FSM says they're necessary, why be so wishy-washy? Get the spacers, what's the harm?

Just make sure that they're aware that they have to remove the surrounds (a-pillar) exteriors. Make sure they don't damage the paint in the process as the shop that did mine - somehow burnt a very very very small area of my paint - I was able to do paint correction and fix about 85% of it, but I'm not happy about it.
Please make sure they understand those have to come off to remove the stock window - they'll have to drill out one rivet to remove them. |
