When you don't need a front license plate anymore

So I moved to a province that doesn't require front plates. Problem is, I moved from a province that did require front plates. So what to do about the holes in my front bumper?

Leaving just the bracket on looks bad, so does leaving the holes like that. I know there are caps, but the OCD in me can't tolerate patched holes that don't serve a purpose.

The ideal situation is for those holes to never have been drilled into the bumper. Since I can't turn back time, I wanted to find the most 'factory originalish/OEMish solution for my front bumper using genuine parts and I wanted it to look at least as good as if I never had the holes drilled in the first place. I wanted it to look like it came from the factory that way.

So I ended up finding this, a stainless steel embossed Z license plate. I think these are the same plates that manufacturers use for their promo photo shoots. I got the plate here and the plate is officially licensed by Nissan: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07QR2GZS3/

I paired the plate with a black stainless steel Nissan slimline frame. This is a new version which has the new Nissan logo font. The part number is T99M7-6TA0B.

The finished product looks incredible and looks very Z Protoish. I found something that looks at least as good as an undrilled bumper and it sorta looks 'factory'. I love how far the Z logo sticks out of the rest of the license plate, like almost a good 1/4".

I think this is an excellent solution for anyone who finds themselves moving to a front-license plate free jurisdiction. Or someone who purchases a car from a state that required front license plates and your state does not.

If you want to repair the plastic it's apparently not that hard.

Look what some sanding and SEM chipguard can do:

Thanks, I am aware of things like plastic welding, but then I would have a 'repaired' bumper. I want to keep things factory original as possible and keep sandpaper away from my car :) It's not like the screw grommets and the front plate bracket are not factory original parts and the holes were drilled exactly as prescribed by the factory. At this stage, it's not any different from the holes that are drilled at the factory in the rear hatch for the factory spoiler as they both serve a purpose for a factory original part. But then if you take sandpaper and other auto body repair type processes to the bumper (or rear hatch), ya not original anymore.

Anyways, it turned out even better than I thought it would. Since the holes are already in my bumper, I may as well make the best of it and I actually prefer this look now. The front end is probably now even more eye catching than a naked bumper. You can't see it in the photo, but the embossed Z is raw stainless steel which I assume would look really good in the sunlight in the summer.

Like I said, looks very Z Proto, and with all the hype of the new Nissan Z, it doesn't hurt for the front of my Z to literally have the Z logo just like the Proto along with the new Nissan font type that you see on the new Z.

If you like it that's great. I think a couple plugs would look far better personally.

I painted mine with touch up paint of the same color as the car.

I’ve used these guys a few times on a few cars, they’re a really easy fix.

What I did that looks really good , is taking a tow bolt and cutting it down .to make a floating plate. Looks so clean this way
