!HELP! window problem!
so guys, i noticed wen i first got the car, wen you open the door, the window goes down a little bit, and when you close it, the window goes back up. However, this just happened recently, that if i open the door, the window will do its thing and go a little down, however when i close it, it doesnt go back up. i have to either turn on the car or turn on the power to get the windows back up. the bad thing is, as a keep opening the door and closing it, the window keeps going down and down and down.... etc.. wen i was washing my car, i didnt notice my window a little open so i got water all inside.. T-T could this be because i got tint? i also recently got stillen gen3 intake and stillen exhaust.... mayb the intake mod messed up this window situation?? should i go to the dealer to get it checked out? only 500 miles on it... im sure warranty will cover it.

You need to reset the CPU that controls the window-same thing happened to me.I can't remember the exact steps, it was a variation on the Ultima reset. Something like turn on the car, lower the window, the raise it and hold it up for ten seconds, then ignition off. Sorry I cannot remember, try variations of that or a search.

Thank you
Nogoodname,
Thank you. This seems like an easy issue but it took me forever to find this. The down 10 seconds then up 10 seconds worked great. The passenger side window stopped half way up when I tried to do both windows together but after the drivers side was fixed I just did the same to the passenger side and everything seems to be ok now. Thanks again Scott |

I've been unable to verify using the 2009 PWC FSM wiring diagrams, but I think that the system uses the window position encoders to shut off the motors when the windows reach their limits of travel, regardless of switch position. Auto-shutoff is necessary for auto-up/down operation and I doubt if the user is in direct control of manual operations (a la fly-by-wire accelerator pedal). But I can't be 100% sure without further research/experiments.

Which is why more research/experimentation is required. You may be right, but it wouldn't make much sense considering the encoder, auto-open/close feature, and fly-by-wire nature of the system. I'd be willing to bet 1 USD that the up/down switches are just a request signal (a la door locks, start, &c) and the BCM and window modules handle motor control. But it wouldn't be the first time Nissan (or any other car maker) did something that didn't make sense to me.

I'll add this one to my list of 370Z Oddities, along with an oil temperature gauge but just an idiot light for pressure, using SLUs that are prone to failure, ...
