Front License Plate tow-hook holder

I've seen a number of different vehicles that have available after-market front license plate holders that are attached to the front end via the tow hook holder. Has anyone seen one of these for the 370?

Stillen has one, I have it on my car. Comes with everything you need - sorry I don't have any pics of it installed.

SWEET! Thanks!

Hey Dreamer, looks like you had the bracket on there at once point. How'd you get the holes patched up? I was thinking about this but those dang holes.... Maybe heat it up and plastic weld but blegh.

theDreamer 01-18-2010 07:17 PM

Never had the front bumper drilled, was very specific, those are the stock dimples from factory so they know where to drill. If you want to fill them they something that can pop into that hole (different sizes) and no one will ever notice really, but the name escapes me currently. :(

Just ordered it!

Same here. Advised the dealer there would be hell to pay.

On my G I had to use BumperPlugs . I was pissed to see the front plate on it after make ready. They offered to replace the front bumper cover but I took the $250 in service dollars instead.

I think I'm just going to buy the carbon fiber front license area cover from the Z store. I'm not a huge carbon fiber fan, but this looks pretty nice.

I wish other companies would develop this piece and make them cheaper!

Spartan 1771 01-18-2010 09:24 PM

I agree. The price is kinda up there.

good idea with the stillen plate holder, but it looks off centered. Needs to be moved over about 6 more inches closer to the headlamp.

That is why I removed mine and it sits in my house, I still have my front plate attached to it for those "just in case" situations.

NYBladeZ 01-19-2010 09:15 AM

it's off center due to the tow hook location, they kept it to a real simple design, just a holding sticking straight out of the tow hook spot

Spartan 1771 01-19-2010 10:31 AM

I've seen this on a number of cars: Mini Cooper, Porsche, VW, etc. I actually like that it's a little off set. It's different.

NYBladeZ 01-19-2010 10:40 AM

I hate that NY requires front plates at all times, just got a cf front bumper, pains me to drill holes in it

Spartan 1771 01-19-2010 11:10 AM

I had an accident and had to have the entire front end replaced, so I made sure they didn't put a plate bracket and I had them remove the Nissan badge. Maryland also requires a front tag, that's why I ordered the tow hook mount.

Looks good.
The only down side is it's in the way of the daytime LED lights (2010 Nissan 370Z Coupe | Accessories | Nissan USA) if you plan to install them.

mick 01-19-2010 02:39 PM

when i bought my mercedes, my brother told me not to put on the front license plate until i get a fix it ticket.

i drove the car without the front plate for 6 years and traded it in for the 370z. I never got a fix it ticket.

Mick:

I thought about that, but I would rather not chance it. Call me a wuss, I know.

Itp:
Interesting lights, but not for me and my Z. I was thinking about installing some driving lights in the lower cut-out areas to the far right and left, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I would have to find something that would look good installed in them.

Spartan 1771:
I am with you - don't like the daylight LED location.
I am looking for some LEDs that are nice and small enough to put them by the fang area.
let's know if you find one.

Spartan 1771 01-19-2010 06:46 PM

ITP:

Same here. I haven't really looked yet. Lately I'm consumed with an after-market intake and exhaust. Eventually I'll get around to looking for the lights. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
