Hood Dampers with CF Hoods?

Those pole-smokers at Seibon disrecommend hood dampers with their CF hoods. Thoughts on issues? Many thanks in advance.

I guess they're afraid you'll snap the hood in half when closing it. :rofl2:

Did you ask them why they made the structural integrity of the hood so poor that it couldn't be used with hood dampers?

They literally won't talk to me anymore. As in they are no longer responding to emails.

That being said, I did some general research and overall, hood dampers can cause undue stress and cracking on the fiberglass underframe of CF hoods, as well as bulging at the hood hinge points if the dampers aren't lower PSI dampers.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience or issues w dampers on CF hoods. Not Seibon-specific; I know they're a trash company with quarter-azz fitment "guarantees." I highly recommend that no one on this forum ever, ever buy Seibon.

I had a Seibon CF hood on my G35 and developed multiple stress fractures while using hood dampers. Their sh1tty customer service will prevent me from ever purchasing anything else made by them.

2024? You must not think very much of me. I'm pretty sure my oil cooler install is going on 5 years now. I'm guessing the hood will take double that to install :icon17:

Internal combustion engines will be illegal under Kyoto XXVI by the time you install that hood lol

I’ve had zero issues with my AMS hood. I’ve had it for 8 years or so, and probably 6 years with dampers.

Did AMS come with a warning against using dampers?

Not that I’m aware of.
