Nurserts in place of plastic push rivets

For those of you that do not like using the plastic push rivets to hold up things like the Zspeed undertray across the front cross brace. Try replacing them with M6 nutserts. They hold much better.

Nutsert Tool

A decent nutsert tool combo can be had on Amazon.com I google searched nutsert tools and the second link was to amazon. The additional nutsert collars can also be had there. I used the M6 variety because they match the Nissan factory 10mm headed bolts that are all over the car.

I used a step-drill bit to open up the lower front cross brace holes. Adding the nutserts there makes the whole under tray install just clean and tight.

This might be a repeat of an earlier post, but I wanted to echo the positive results that I had doing this simple replacement. I really do not like the plastic push rivets for everything.

Great post! I'm not sure what the difference between nutserts and rivnuts are, but Rusty posted a DIY with pictures a few years back. Might help out anyone who wants to do this....

But the plastic ones break so much easier!

Looks like a great idea.

I just bought the plastic rivets by the heaping handful from my favorite body shop (much cheaper than buying at the auto parts stores) and considered them consumables. Bought a pry bar for the rivets, which helped reduce breakage, but still broke at least one every time I worked on the car.
