Seibon Gives No ****s
TS hood arrived today. Seibon skimped on 60 cents of styrofoam. This is the result. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c0bbe6f143.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a3784787c6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8df94199ba.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...63a9d97796.jpg

damn!
shipping damage maybe? |
Almost certainly. They only wrapped the front of the hood in a thin layer of cellophane and a plastic bag. Pretty obvious that something banged into it.
|
It's so weird how they still don't. People had these issues regularly for the past decade. Hope it gets sorted quickly. I don't think cf hoods are covered by the shipping company's insurance.
|
Are they gonna give you another hood?
|
Don’t worry! Just pay return shipping out of pocket and wait another 6 weeks then you can play seibon roulette and see if the next hood is any better!
|
I'm working with THMotorsports to resolve this issue. I will say that THM has been very helpful and responsive.

I don’t know... if that thing looks like that coming out of a box, what’s it gonna look like after a year in the real world?

Seriously though, i swear marking something as fragile just guarantees it's going to get banged up. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

If it is not cracked, take it to a body shop and have it re-cleared. That may would polish out, hard to tell from a picture.
|
I worked for UPS many moons ago, when I loaded trucks there were multiple people yelling the time left to pack.
"Fragile" and "this end up" literally meant nothing. Pretty much everything is thrown. Freight is good though. |

I mean, its not like no one warned against Seibon
http://www.the370z.com/3863401-post3.html http://www.the370z.com/3863714-post13.html Pray THMotorsports will get you a refund Pay for Fujimura, Varis, Amuse, etc. |
Usually vendors get the hoods via freight (a bunch on a palette) or just go pick them up. THEN they put additional packaging around the box that the hood is inside of. THEN ship it to the customer.
The box in the photo isn't really meant for UPS Joe to be handling. It really is the vendors problem. |

I did a lot of looking around and the only vents I was willing to spend reasonable $ on was the Seibon TS. The Fuji hood looks awesome, but I can't justify the $$$/waiting four months for it to be shipping from Toyko.
As for the packaging... it was freight delivery all the way. Hi-Pilot. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

The only bright side to this is that I didnt take off my OEM hood in preparation for today. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

That being said, I also prefer the "in one piece, undamaged on delivery" look. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |
Well ****. I just ordered one and then saw this

it also helps to have the hood delivered directly to the bodyshop, which presumably has a loading area for large packages

Had this happen too, to some side skirts. Seibon claims you are to inspect it upon receiving it and sign the delivery slip as damaged while the delivery service person is there. If not it is now your problem and Seibon will not refund jack. I refused to buy from them again going forward.

If you don't want to deal with the hassle, the best option is to refuse the delivery and contact your credit card company and tell them the product arrived damaged and you don't have the time to deal with accepting a horribly packaged product and the return/replacement process. They should care of you.
In my previous experiences, they generally are ok with a photo or three of the damaged packaging. Holes, such as those from a poorly operated forklift, are excellent evidence. |
What was the outcome or plan? I am also looking at getting cf parts thru seibon, but now having 2nd thoughts....
Also, I was eyeing between the hood you got and the gtr style. I know the vents are functional, but I’m worried about water getting thru into the engine bay.... |
Seibon was processing the claim as of Friday. I'm going to contact THM first thing Monday for an update.
As for water... everything in the bay has seals and whatnot. And I'm gonna fabricate rain guards for the vents. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |
My Seibon hood arrived damaged as well last week. Had the same issue around the GTR Style vents but my cracks were worse.
Seibon directed me/the shop to destroy the hood after I emailed them pictures and they immediately shipped a replacement hood. Customer service was great - I just hope the replacement comes undamaged. |
The issue is that Seibon moves so many hood these days (they're all copies or derived from designs by someone else) that its cheaper to kick out a replacement for screw ups than to drastically change their packing/shipping methods
I've ordered 2 hoods from Japan. zero fitment or shipping issues. I've ordered . . . 2 or 3 hoods from seibon. Multiple issues |
I’ve never ordered a hood, but I second OptionZero on the parts from Japan. The two CF lip spoilers that I received we’re easily the best packaged products that I have received from any other vendors.
|
Seibon wants me to destroy the hood and take pics. This was my response to THM customer service. He called me immediately after I sent this lol https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e461589939.jpg
