Another shifter option for those with autos
I didn't see this option yet so thought I'd share. If someone has already done it please post up and give input.
I had planned to cut up the indicator plate to accept the plastic shift boot frame...I may do that in the future. There is no binding with the boot so it will probably stay this way. http://www.the370z.com/members/sunsp...hift-mod-2.jpg |
Very nice great job what a creative idea for 7AT guys out there thumbs up.

I get that the typical auto shift knob can be an eyesore, but people will glance and think "this guy is trying to pass off like he's got a manual" — even if that wasn't your actual idea here.
But by all means, if you want it that way, keep it that way. I mean it's not like you put in a boost gauge in a non-turbo'd car. Honestly this just does look better than stock. imo now that the technology and design advances are here, all future autos shouldn't have big knobs/levers anymore. The buttons or mini knobs are more proper. |

there is another clever mod that uses an actual manual shift boot to remove the indicator plate. The reason I did not want to remove the indicator plate is because...it's an auto :) |
Would be great if you can adapt the G37 plate/gear indicator. I have no problem with the shift boot, it’s stock on every infiniti of that era, but it would be great if the boot actually covers the channel/path.

I have a G37 handle with a manual boot tucked under the silver bezel so you don't see any of the PRND.... ugliness. Most think it's a manual until they are missing a pedal.

Do you worry at all about the boot getting bunched up/stuck while shifting?
|
I thought this was a joke at first. It really looks trashy AF!

IMO it just looks like a Kludge. It's trying to be too much and answer a question that was never asked... especially with the drive indicator plate still in place. I mean, wtf? I'm sure there are those that think it's cool. |
