slightly off topic -
Wasn't there some discussion that you don't want the vent directly in front of the intake, because that actually hurts its ability to draw air due to turbulance or whatever? It was during a discussion of cutting a vent into the bumper, but i can't recall

Ah, gotcha. Moving air isn't cooler, but it is better for pulling heat away. If any effort's to be made in utilizing them, brake ducts or oil coolers are the way to go for sure. That will gain more performance than a couple horsepower from intake air temps.
