Default Bulbs

Do they have red license plate bulbs for our cars? I’m looking around, interested in the white/clear LED’s but I’m curious to know if they make red ones, driving behind cars with colored ones and was wondering if we have any sort of colors and if they do make colored ones, where do I find and which is the best brand to purchase? Lemme know

In most (if not all) states, the license plate lamp must be white.

But if you must have a red lamp, find out the lamp number (should be in Owner's Manual) and get one with a red envelope. Color is often indicated by a letter suffix, eg, 1156R (yeah, I'm old).

Red lights that are not hooked up as brake lights are illegal on any non-exempted vehicle (i.e. law enforcement or emergency vehicles) in any state

What are the license plate bulbs? Are they 194? Was wondering if license plate bulbs and reverse light bulbs are the same, probably not but was curious. Not too familiar with bulbs, first car I’ve ever owned that I’m planning to swap out bulbs lol so...

If you don't have an Owner's Manual to look up the lamp number, you can get a PDF at NissanUSA. (If you plan on doing any work on your Z, the FSM is a great resource. Link in my sig.)

More than one thread on the subject of lic plate lamps; at least one link to a vendor. If you don't like the site's search, go to any search engine and add "site:the370z.com" to your search string. Eg, https://duckduckgo.com/html?q=license plate lamp site:the370z.com

Vleds or diodedynamics, get a pair of red 194 leds.
Cheap and easy install. But illegal and will get you pulled over fast.
I don’t think it looks dope but it’s your car man.

I'm on VLEDS right now and it gives options from 5k-6k, would 6k burn out too fast or not be suitable for the vehicle or would it not effect anything at all? Once again I'm clueless to lighting lol bare with me haha

Would higher Color Temp effect any issues to the vehicle or the bulbs itself? Found a site to browse but giving options of 5k,5500,6k not sure if theres an issue going up to 6k, cause i love how 6k looks lol

And the ricing begins.....

To each their own, but blue/red/color lights for any part of the vehicle that is not part of the headlight is so 1999-ish. Do you guys remember all the ricers that would put lights as part of the windshield sprayer on the hoods? lol

Lol let’s also throw in the altezza lights, clearing out the corners of the orange/amber part, ghetto-cutting the springs that produces that bouncing affect, and the tire flies!
