Fuel gage indicator
So apparently I just got a new discovery! For the last few times I filled up my tank, I noticed that the gage no longer reads full. I'm the type that usually squeezes the trigger a couple extra times even after the automatic shutoff. The indicator is one less from full, which I thought was weird. Earlier today I went ahead and filled up one more time and the gauge showed the same result. One less ball from full. I ALWAYS fill up with 91 Octane and I ALWAYS get it from Shell. I know I am getting good gas. I am starting to get irritated on my vehicle. I never had so much trouble with a sportscar before ESPECIALLY when it's only 3 months old. Any feedback is highly appreciated. Should I just go to the dealership and start asking for replacements?

I have noticed the same thing. It is usually when i fill up and have not turned off the engine. Also, take note of any incline your car may be on while you are filling up. I am pretty sure this is not a big problem.

There are some other threads discussing this issue - I believe modshacks theory is correct, the sender gets slightly corroded causing the issue. There are some recommendations on fuel additives to correct the issue.

yeah try some fuel additives first for a couple tanks of gas.
if that doesn't work take it to the dealer for calibration or somethin. good be a sending unit with the wrong resistance or something.

I posted about the HFC theory. I was not sure if it could be related. Only reason I brought it up was because it didnt just happen once but twice now.

i also noted that some gas pumps have tips that just dont let you fill to the actual full mark 'click.' it prematurely clicks and stops you from filling to the top.
ive had this issue on my 04 G for the longest time... use to fill at only Shell. just last year i started using a mobil station and at that station i can fill all the way to full. |

Put a bottle of the additive in...Might take several tries to completely clean the contacts..If this fixes it, you might want to consider a different fuel....

Alright.. Well.. I am starting to worry a lot about my vehicle. As advised.. I went and bought a bottle of Techron additive and poured into my almost empty fuel tank and then filled up to full. Since then, I've driven 65 some odd miles and the bar is already 4 round solid lights missing. What the hell.. Is this a reaction of the fuel system to techron? Is this something that will return to "normal" after the next fill up? I don't drive crazy enough to be burning that much fuel in 65 miles. 4 of those usually takes me 100+ miles before all this crap started happening to my vehicle.

Yeah that's right. Our Z tends to do that when you fuel while the engine's still on. But mine is a completely different story. I'm just waiting for a couple more fill ups with Chevron w/ Techron and see if that solves the problem. If everything else fails. I go to the dealer.
