you gotta be ******* kidding me
are you referring to the vent under the spoiler, between the taillights? you know what a 911 would have that and NOT say . . . any front engined car, right?

Hey, yeah the vent under the spoiler is correct, it would look good on the 370Z, and I heard it helps increase down force. Its part of the reason why the GT3 RS is so fast around a track.

Like others have said "this is due to a rear engine." As far as adding down force, I would start getting my info from some one else who know what they are talking about!!

So yes, while the rear bumper vents/ducts do aid in engine cooling, they do aid in down force by cutting down on the "parachute" effect (I don't know the proper term) of the rear bunper. However, you also need to realize the undercarriage, wing, front fender vents, etc. all play a role. Doing only one will upset the characteristics of how the vehicle handles at speed. I had contacted Verus (formerly Velox) about producing undercarriage panels for the Z similar to the ones the make for the 86s, WRX/STI and Miatas. But due to the piss poor reception of the diffuser they produced for us, they won't be making anymore parts for the Z34. |

So if I was to also get some custom style GT3 RS undercarriage panels produced, I could then have this rear panel over the glass as well to reduce the parachute effect. |

OK, so maybe I'm picturing what you want wrong since the area behind the glass on a Z opens into the cargo area. Are you thinking you'll put a vent there and then run some kind of duct through the cargo area to the undercarriage in some kind of attempt to gain rear downforce? Did I follow that right? Please tell me I'm not reading you right because it almost seems like you've never opened the hatch and looked around, or looked under the car at all the mechanical bits to see why this would not work.

The Porsche GT3's engine is in the rear of the car. Here's why it has those vents:

If down force is what you want, check this mod out:
