Direct fit racing seats

I'm looking for a nice set of direct fit racing seats with harness (i.e. bolt-on with very little modification required). Not looking for anything specific, just something better than stock.

The Nismo seats are a direct replacement they fit and are comfortable. Also the Nismo seats will add to the appeal of your interior. The Nismo seats helped me at the track as they weight less and plant you in the seat better. Overall the stock oem Nissan seats are not that bad they are just heavier.

And don't forget the nismo seats retain side airbags. If you drive the car on the road at all, that's important.

To be clear, they're referring to the 2015+ Nismo Recaros

New, they're not worth ordering bc the dealer price is nuts.

If you have cash to burn, you can get Recaro sportster CS, which is what the nismo partially uses. It has airbags

And remember the factory bar behind the seat is NOT good enough for use with harnesses.

Yeah. It's made from aluminum foil. Believe me.

If you go with an oem seat your going to need a hole on the bottom for 5+ point harness systems. If you go with aftermarket with a slider just make sure the height is no more then 1" greater than the recaro sportser cs. If you go with a fixed position seat you get about another 1" or so to work with. Also if it's not a dedicated track car avoid fixed back seats since the oem belt won't work right.

Racing harnesses are designed for racing seats. Without the proper positioning of the shoulder harnesses they are rendered useless or even harmfull in some cases. Not to mention, you can't properly use an anti-submarine (crotch) belt unless you want to cut a hole in your stock seat.

If its staying put in your seat that you are concerned about, check out the CG-Lock. Cheap, removeable, and designed to work with your stock seat belt to keep it locked in place and keep you from sliding around in the seat.

If its safety you're concerned about, keeping everything stock is much safer than having some racing safety parts and some stock parts. Its either all the way stock, or full race gear (roll bar/seat/harnesses/helmet/hans). Those are the only truly safe ways to do it.

Full race gear or stock belts. No in between. There was a great strategy chart on this subject that was posted on the forum a while back but I couldn't find it. It showed all the different options and configurations for stock and race modifications with regard to seat belts and whether they were safe or unsafe. Very informative - wish I could find it again.

There is a middle ground between bone stock and full preped dedicated track car. It's like saying either no helmet because OEM is safe or full carbon fiber helmet $3k+. No in between is just silly. Because spending many tens of thousands of dollars making a fully compliant race car and tow vehicle is just not necessary for HPDE or what the OP was asking.

( Click to show/hide )
I know the chart your referring too and is pretty much says the only good option is buying a track car and tow vehicle or stock safety gear. Stock safety is pretty much useless on a 400hp car and a long straight.

Just like your OEM safety equipment is a system of belts, bags, pre-tensioners, etc. Track safety equipment for HPDE is a system as well.

1. Helmet Few hundred dollars
2. Hans, Seat with harness holes, Harness bar, and 5+ point harness. Few thousand dollars
2A. Fire rated gloves to help exit, bottle extinguisher*, roll bar with SFI padding.**
3. Not legally streetable car. Why, because at this point your doing full cage, nets, and halo seats. Many tens of thousands of dollars.

#2 is what your looking for if you intend on using the harnesses.

* For use only if trapped inside, always exit the car ASAP if there is a fire, don't fiddle getting the tiny extinguisher.

** You can get more personal fire gear but with a full oem interior of fire resistant material it's not too necessary beside for looks. And you get into the argument of then why are you not installing a full fire suppression system.

Thanks for the replies/advice. I'll take a look at the Nismo seats and see what it's going to set me back.

C'mon...what a joke. These eBay sellers are delusional.

LOL I understand a damaged seat can get re-upholstered but this crap is going to make your car smell like it was on fire.

We order custom brackets that will be direct bolt-in for pretty much any aftermarket Recaro/BRIDE seat
