Generally when I think of molding in a body line, it is filling a seam and smoothing it with filler.

Trust me, it will be VERY easy. The back side of the parts are flanged and indexed so that there is only one way that they can attach and they are self-locating. Don't think about the molding process like you would for fiberglass or bondo or any crap like that. Bondo will eventually crack and look like garbage. We will be providing a two part epoxy which is just like poly urethane and adheres and flexes just like poly urethane so there will be no fatigue or cracking or anything like that.
Like I said, I'll put together a little instructional video so that you can see just how easy it is to mold it and have it be seamless. It will be absolutely perfect when it's completed and primed and painted. I recommend that everyone do this themselves in their driveway prior to taking it to their painter. It will take you about an hour or so and will only cost you about 10 bucks in materials (sand paper and an applicator.) Trust me, it is well worth the savings of not having to pay the additional freight. That also brings up a good point...When you take your fascia to get painted, tell your painter to use primer. A lot of your painter's will say "we use adhesion promoter on urethane." Tell them to keep that crap away from your car because you want to use primer. Adhesion promoter does not work as well as primer on urethane. We have been manufacturing our own urethane for 25 years and we know what it takes to paint it properly....Primer is necessary!!! |

hahaha ... it sounded like we would have to take a whole course on body work before Stillen explaining the process... Doesnt sound to difficult now

the 2-part epoxy is nice...I was worried it would require body filler (bondo style) which is prone to cracking on urethane. Can't wait for pics

Josh,
Can you give me rough dimensions of the grill opening and side scoop openings? I need to fabricate and powdercoat some grill material for the body shop before it gets here.

However, if you have your own grill material that you would like to use I can supply you with estimated dimensions next week. |

just curious...bumpers have always been roughly the same size so why the change in fascia design? Our bumper is no different dimensionally than any other fascia you produce so why is there now a push to fit the fascia in a non-freight sized package? Did freight prices skyrocket?
