Ah, you learn something new everyday... After investigating, yes aftermarket parts are paid for by the at fault party given that the parts have receipts and prices paid can be proven. Alot of times if you make claims on your own insurance, aftermarket parts are not covered. And lastly, it all depends on state laws.

My accident was not my fault and soccer mom ran away, then found uninsured. I had to do a claim through my own insurance which is why I was misinformed. Also, just because you have uninsured motorists coverage, it doesn't mean the vehicle is covered. This is what happened to me, I was covered for medical costs by uninsured motorists, but the car is not covered. Again, that's the state of Maine. Progressive is also the WORST insurance out there, the wanted to "buff and blend" my bumper. I paid everything out of my own pocket in the end.

Yes. I've had the exhaust before converting to the Nismo. The FI exhaust for Nismo will stick out further.

I had a lady try and do a hit and run on a my R6 (she back into it in a parking lot and knocked it over), luckily someone caught her. Her insurance was progressive. They want to buff the marks out of one of the panels. They also wanted to bulk at a 10% price discrepancy (between what their adjuster thought it should cost and what my shop said) on the total bill on the total bill. At the time the bike was still basically brand new. I told them it's a brand new bike, it would not go anywhere else to be looked at, they would replace the panel, and if they wanted to drag their feet, I'd get a lawyer involved.

I had a truck that I totaled and they came back with a very low value, and I told the adjuster to try again. I told him to find me a one with that low of miles and that kind of aftermarket equipment on it for that much. They sent out a new adjuster, and they came back with something much higher (actually way higher than I expected).

My main point is don't be afraid to tell these companies no, thats not acceptable. See what they come back with. They expect you take the first offer they give you. Don't sign anything, they need to make you "whole" again. Playing a bit of hardball with them may get you a much better "deal". It's worked well for me in the past. At least if you don't mind this taking a bit longer.

I will say I've had to get a lawyer involved in exactly one insurance claim. It did take almost exactly a year to get things settled, but it came definitely ended in my favor.

Do you mind snapping a pic from behind of your car with the exhaust?
