Warning Dash light Reset??

If there is a dash warning light, say misfiring, would it turn off after the misfiring is corrected, and how long does it take to reset? Thx.

IIRC, misfire PIDs do not clear automatically (FSM will tell you for sure).

Most scan tools will allow you to clear PIDs. You can buy cheap ones for $20-30 or borrow one at most auto parts stores.

I know the code will not be erased after the condition is corrected, but would the dash light stay on? Thx.

IIRC, as long as the PID is there, the light will stay on. I don't think misfire PIDs will auto-clear when condition is restored to normal. The FSM can confirm/refute.

Buy/borrow a scan tool and try clearing the PID(s). If the PID(s) will clear, the light should go off.

I’m what case would the code erase itself ? Or do we need to reset manually every time after correcting the error ?

If I'm correct about the misfire PIDs being permanent (verify with the FSM), then it will never erase itself. Permanent codes have to be manually reset - every time.
