I have a 2017 z and noticed they stopped with the illuminated Z in the door sill. Just curious why and if there is a replacement?

Unfortunately, it is not a plug and play install. Its a dealer installed option meaning that there is no factory wiring to plug them into. All the wiring needs to be passed and spliced. What was Nissan thinking?

I think we have a different definition of "plug and play". What I was trying to convey is the wiring and plugs are not already there underneath the non-illuminated sill plates. The wiring needs to be installed requiring removal of the dashboard side panels, inner/outer kick plates and running it to the power source underneath the dashboard. No big deal but still a pain in the a$$ for such a simple item.
I don't understand why Nissan did not pre-run a simple plug to the sill plates like most other car manufacturers. This would have made for an easier and quicker illuminated sill plate installation (truly plug and play). Nissan 370Z Illuminated Door Kick Plates Installation Instructions

Really? I need to look at mine a little closer. I’m gonna check tonight to see if the plug and harness is there. Thanks for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can you take a picture of it if you find it? If mine is plug'n'play too I may consider this mod as well!

No splicing. It's a fairly easy project.
Check the DIY section of the forum for pictures of the install.
