I know this is a super late reply, but I installed mine, and after a few weeks of off/on rain here in TX, I killed one of my plugs. Now what happened was, water leaked down on cylinder 2, and it went past the coil boot insulator, and did have some build up. So I threw on a very minute bead of silicone to help seal it up. But just wanted to give you guys a heads up. My Z is my semi daily driver (I have another car, but prefer to drive the z, I'm sure you guys understand lol), and does NOT get parked in a garage.

Aren't you worried about the silicone making it tough to get the coils out when the time comes to change the plugs? |

I hammered out some rain shields for my Trackspec hood vents. Have them so that water drains in front of the motor.
If other people want them. I'll make them for a price. Aluminum not cheap.

The vents WORK! 85F sitting in traffic. Oil and engine temps stayed put. Running 85 mph for hours on end, down to ZDayZ and back. Oil temps never got 170F, and engine temps at 185F.

Been sitting on these for a while and finally got to doing them. I couldn’t bring myself to cut the hood so I took it off and let the body shop do it. They commented that the large middle vent wasn’t quite formed to the contour of the hood (too flat) so they took it upon themselves to form it better (a little coercing down the middle). I also picked up a set of Rusty’s rain guards but haven’t installed those yet. Also, the heat extraction is for real!! More pics in my build thread (link in sig).

I may need a set of these. I wanted to wait until after my TT upgrade is completed to check the temps out in stop and go traffic. I didn't want to put the vents in if I didn't need to. I am not crazy about hacking up my hood.

Just do it, so far it doesn't seem like anyone has had and any issues.

Did your temps change much after your rain guards? They have to be block some air flow. Or is the plan to remove them say for track days?
My garage is already full, so my Z sits outside (and daily driven), but I haven't really been too concerned about it. I went over the connectors with dielectric grease, even though they were weather tight connectors. Some of the exposed bolts I removed and added some "water proof" grease as anti seize. Over all the only problem I've noticed is the longer rivets were not entirely stainless, the center was regular mild steel and rusted. Ive since filled the center of the rivets with silicone to seal them, but unfortunately it caused some rust discoloration around a couple rivets. |
