Do you have to remove the car seat to install this?

No

I highly recommend you guys do this when your car is new. I did this when my car had 20K miles. With my big butt and tons of autoxing and tracking, my seat had deformed to a point where the bottom cover has slacks. I did this to my RAV4 when the car was new, barely any slack

If you want the best fit, then I suggest you remove the seat....unless you have really tiny arms and hands.

Stretching the top of the seat over the two headrest holes was such a pain in the ***, I cannot imagine attempting it from inside the car.

Removing the seat takes less then 5 minutes

Same. I really like leatherseats.com stuff like these, but why are they so much more than clazzio?

Also does anyone know why both companies specify that these are for CLOTH seats only?

The leather covers are not meant to be put over original leather seats
