It's the double flash that happens twice that I don't see any correlating info for...

Hello,
I had the airbag light blinking after I installed floor led lights. I found the solution here on the forum. It's a description for a electronic reset. It worked for me, I hope it works for you. ****IIMPORTANT**** Turn the ignition off as soon as the airbag light goes out the first time. If you have the airbag light blinking here is how to reset it: 1. Push the start button two times (Ignition on but engine not started). 2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off INSTANTLY. 3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .) 4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times. 5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry. 6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing. If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-T550 met Tapatalk |
Have you asked a dealer to look at it? I had most of my air bag system fail randomly around 80K miles and not covered under warranty. Dealer wanted $7K for everything. I made a big deal of the safety concerns to Nissan North America, and they authorized a local dealer to do all of the work at no charge to me.

Thanks for that. Yes, I've already tried the reset.

I have. They wanted an hr minimum at $110 so I'm starting here. I don't have a warranty because it's a salvage. It has 43k miles. Your experience is a bit disconcerting lol.

Yeah, I was pretty concerned. That's why I called corporate as soon as I found out the repair bill was in the thousands. Considering the safety issue at hand, I believe they acted accordingly by agreeing to cover the repairs without any hassle. Of course, I originally purchased my car new from a Nissan dealer, so I'm not sure if they'll look at yours differently because it's a salvage you bought. But it might be worth a call to corporate to see if they can't get your local dealer to diagnose it at no cost to you. If you plan to do this, PM DEpointfive0 first and ask him for tips on dealing with corporate - he's helped me on several occasions. If you look hard enough, you might even find his phone number on the forum - he's posted it a lot. |

When I purchased my 370 the air bag light flashed like yours all the time. I figured since I only seem to use my car on the track with rare street rides I could live with it. I was very very wrong. it becomes more annoying then anything not to mention when your on the track and your focusing on the road and not the dash, the flashing red becomes mingled with your flashing rpm shift indicator, making it even more frustrating when you dealing with tenths of a second and an early shift could cost you a half second coming into a turn!... When I bought my 370 as a reclaim, it had deployed the passenger side air bag. we cut the air bag out and fixed the interior but there never was a new air bag put into the car. A new air bag was over $1500 so we resorted to leaving it alone. We tried using the UpRev tune to deactivate the air bag light but had no luck with that either. In the end what fixed (or tricked I should say) the cars computer was by removing the passenger side seat and gaining access to the wire harness that plugged into the passenger seat. there is a little bag of gel or water that the passenger sits on that is built into the seat. when they sit on this gel pack it puts pressure on a switch activating the air bag computer telling the car there is actually a person sitting in the seat and then some how it can decide if it should fire the air bag based on the pressure on the seat and the impact of the car etc... (I could be wrong on how it works but all I know is this gel pack is specifically just for the air bag system) We disconnected the wire harness and cut the wires and added a resistor. I did not do the work myself but my mechanic did. It was a pretty easy fix and the light has been off ever since. Here is a link of a guy on the forum that did the same thing but in all this is what fixed the issue for us. Link Here Hope this helps! |
