Ok, I see how it's mounted now.

Here's my thread on installing the Robispec bar. It replaces the cheezy cross bar.

I've gotten into 2 wrecks, 1 front end and 1 back end. Both times I was using Schroth 4 point harnesses and never had an issue. The stock brace bar held just fine even with 2 180 lb people

Either way, I'd say you're more lucky than anything.

First wreck was sliding into a guardrail going about 30 mph or so. 15k worth of damage. Due to them being harnesses, we had a slight jolt. If we were using stock seatbelts we definitely would have had whiplash.

2nd wreck was last monday. Guy rearended me going about 35/40. 8k worth of damage, sore neck the next day but thats it.

No damage to the brace bar either times.

That aluminum bar is just a shell that goes around an inner thick bar if I am not mistaken. Never any bending at all.

If I could even find a better bar to replace it I would. But both the Amuse and Robispec bars were almost impossible to find, and close to 1k if I recall correctly. Seems a bit crazy to me. And I feel safer with the stock bar than those thin "harness bars" that attach with L brackets

Wrong! The aluminum bar you see is it. There is no inner bar. Additionally, unlike the Robispec bar which bolts directly to the chassis, the OE bar is held in place by flimsy sheet metal brackets.

And the reason harness bars regardless of design cost so much; legal LIABILITY. All it takes is one lawsuit, regardless of how baseless it is, to destroy a company.

The factory cross bar weights 1.5 lbs with brackets. It's .114" or 2.89mm thick. You can see how thick the brackets are.

Since we are already in the thread, any suggestions for a cheap strong bar, and also a more expensive better quality bar? I need something I can buy today, not contact 10 different people and try to get custom made

Honestly, unless you're going all out with a full cage, appropriate seats, 6 point harnesses and a HANS, you're better off with the OEM restraints and airbags. Nissan has a lot more on the line than Bob's Discount Harness Bars & Chicken, so they over engineer everything and crash test the hell out of it. Also, "cheap" should not be a concern when dealing with brakes, safety systems, whisky or condoms.

Belts on the street, harnesses on the track.

You got lucky twice. Most people don't get a third try at it.

I have both proper seats and proper belts. No reason for 6 point because the 4 points I have are anti-sub. I understand that roll cage is usually needed in case of the roof collapsing but this is a street car not a track car. I'm noy rolling this thing or even remotely close. I just like how the harnesses keep you in the seat. Cipher bar looks good enough.

Yeah, aluminum is strong enough IF it's designed for the application. In this case. It's not. MA Motorsports makes a good harness bar. I've seen their bar at ZDayZ this year. Talk to Daelen. He's a good guy. Tell him Russ sent you.

With this set-up. You keep the stock cross bar. And you have better angles with the belts.

I know the car has an airbag but it's not made to deploy correctly with a harness.

Rusty,

This harness bar does not attach to anything in these pictures.

The bar comes with a drop bolt that goes through the metal plating. Essentially getting two contact points for security.

It does not attach to the cross bar!

I think we get it, you like the MA bar. I do too..... Just not enough to spend $650 on it.
