NYS Tint (2009 model question)
So, I did a quick search, and considering the specificity of my question, figured i'd post up a new question. Apologies if this was discussed recently.
I have a 2009 Nissan Z (you can see all/more info in my sig), and my car is due for inspection. I was completely unaware of the NYS law starting this year about tints (I don't live where the car is located anymore, so it's more of a vacation car for me when visiting my parents). I have to peel my tints as they only allow 40% thru (NYS law says it must allow 70%). The place who did them is taking them off (clearly not for free as it was 8 years ago that it got done), and asked if i want to put back on. I am NOT in the mood to play the game of peeling and replacing every year, it doesnt make sense to me. So the main question is, who knows what the stock % of light coming through is on a 2009 Z? My nissan dealer said they come stock at 70% and I called ******** as my car is 8 years old, not new (the new ones do, they come at 72% as he took a meter to 2 cars in the showroom). I want to know before i have to make excess trips if it makes sense to put on 75% tints, so i'm not driving a fishbowl. Thanks! |
Ask your installer to compare side by side stock tint to the ones they have and see which tint amount matches it the best. Then you will know the percentage of the stock.

well, that was part of the issue, they wanted to know 'before' peeling the tint if i wanted to re-tint so they could order, but because it's been so long and don't know stock light % i said idk/no. that's why throwing the question out there. thanks for that idea tho!
