370Z Vinyl Wrap or Repaint?

I'm planning on getting my car a different color. I want to either vinyl wrap it gloss black or repaint it black. I've done some research around here and it looks like re painting it can cost a lot of money. I think I'm just gonna be in the market for a vinyl wrap. I called the best reviewed car wrapping company in my town and they quoted me $3000 for a full vinyl wrap of gloss black. Is this a good deal? And Is a gloss black vinyl wrap reliable?

Vinyl but do not do gloss black! Sneeze and you'll show swirl marks!! Doing it yourself is actually doable! Avery is very user friendly!

Why not gloss black? Do you have experience with gloss black vinyl wrap?

I understand black cars are hard to keep clean. Everybody complains about black cars showing everything. But I clean my car all the time and do my best to keep it clean. And I'm sure there is some sort of wax I can use on it to help prevent it from getting as dirty.

Vinyl isn't very durable, so washing it, etc will leave swirl marks and gloss black will show them very easy.

If you can DIY the wrap then go for it! A pro wrap job is also not the cheapest thing in the world.. just realize it isn't going to last forever.

My Z was black before I wraped mine, it was a PITA to keep clean, but it looked amazing when it was clean. For a full wrap 3K is a bit on the higher side but if it's from a very good shop not unreasonable. A good paint job could easily cost double that, and with vinyl you can go back to OEM. I would recommend vinyl any day over paint, the only time I would go with paint would be if there was a serious issue with the original paint.

It's true what Jayhovah said, vinyl is softer then paint and I can see some minor issues with mine but since I know it's coming off in a few year's I am not to worried. A garaged car with a neurotic cleaning regiment will last 5+ years, an outdoor kept car will last ~3.

Waxes do not make great protectants for vehicles that get driven frequently. Also generally speaking carnuba based waxes will attract dust so your car will be dusty...a lot. Like 2011 said, black is awful to keep clean. Not to mention, aftermarket paint is exponentially softer than factory paint so swirls and scratches are inevitable and black will just show it sooner. I had to get my front bumper repainted so I did a llumar clear bra on that section, if you do repaint, definitely invest in a clear bra for the car it will save you the heartache of watching your fresh paint get screwed up.

My car most of the time will be in the garage while I'm at work and when I get home I'll have my car cover over it. So that alone should prevent it from getting dirty. I do a really good job at keeping updated on cleaning my car so I'm not too worried if I need to clean my car more often then normal.... also this wrapping company has a warranty with their wraps as well. If anything happens, it's fixed

Also be aware any and all defects in the paint, like chips will show with vinyl wrap.
With a paint job these defects are repaired.

Each has the pros and cons. However, paint would be better for the long term. Vinyl also can't be "repaired" for scratches and scuffs... You'll have to get the whole body panel re-wrapped.

Yeah I understand it won't do the same as a paint job will. My paint is in really good condition as is

If it'll need re wrapped then that'll be fine! This place has a warranty
