head light cover

2013 370z NISMO

So I hit up my local head light modification person as I noticed there were scratches on the inside of the lens cover. Figured have him wet sand them out. He turned down the job saying they they was stress spider webbing and go through the the plastic; not just on the outer layer. I am not the original owner and the head lights had been baked for some trim paint it seems.

Bummer.

I hit the dealer and they actually sell them separate but way to much $$$$. I did some searching but not finding just the cover.

Any leads/places to pick these up at?

how much is the dealer selling the covers for? If more than $500 I would just buy another set head lights.

You mean there are scratches on the lens itself? If so, these might be your best bet:

Otherwise, your best bet is probably to keep an eye out on the forum here - single headlights come up for sale every once in a while.

The cover is not available on it's own unless you find it second hand from someone. If you are looking a brand new lights, though, there are aftermarket companies making OE replacements these days... the price is not a ton cheaper than Nissan, unfortunately.

If you do end up replacing it, you could practice the process of baking/opening on it before doing the same on your own lights. If you're not interested in that, send it to me so I can =)

Wait...I thought he meant the top outer cover of the head light?

I did, too, until he mentioned they sell it separately, which is why I posted the thread about those STI lenses. But after reading it again, I think he was meaning the headlights are sold separately (i.e. you don't have to buy the pair).

You can't buy the top-most outer cover separately from the dealer. Best case is to find a dead headlight that you can salvage the top cover from.

Nope, even the parts manager here said you have to buy the whole thing. Then he looked it up and said I will be damned, they do come separate being the clear plastic outer cover.

Now they are 1K each. The rest of the assembly is $189 per side. Go figure.

I was thinking this was my best bet or finding a wrecked one and pulling the entire assy..

Classic Nissan with the big FU middle finger.

There is a business opportunity for someone who knows how to the have the cover replicated.

If you decide to go OEM, buy from a dealership like this that discounts the parts:
HEADLAMP COMPONENTS for 2013 Nissan 370Z

The "lens and housing" option is "only" $681 from there...but also only $75 cheaper than the entire assembly. Might as well buy the whole assembly and part out what you don't need.

Thanks for the link :).

I am going to let it ride for now I guess and keep trolling the forums for a wrecked/part out thread :(.

Since the 370Z headlights have been around for a while, there may be some headlight reconditioning shops that work on them. They may also carry repro covers. Just a thought.

It's your lucky day! Buy the set and sell off the side you don't need to recoup some $ ;)
