Rear Cargo Cover
I just got my car a couple days ago :happydance:. It's a 2010 PW Nismo, I'll save the pics for my official intro thread. Anyway one of the factory parts I would like is the rear car go cover. The only good post I found searching about adding the cover in a non-touring was this one by Kevr6:
http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...-retracts.html The dealer agreed to replace all the trunk panels needed to make it work on his car and honored their agreement to include it with his purchase. My car actually came with the piece on the under side of the hatch with the hooks, and the interior trunk quarter panel piece already has what appears to be anchors (see pics below). This raises a couple questions. For me: -Am I set to just get the rolling cover and be good to go? -The rear cargo cover retails for like $325 or $350. WTF are they smoking lol, there better be 2 $100 bills attached to the roll when you pull it out for the first time. Is there a dealer that sells at wholesale or better? For the community: -I thought the Nismo was based off the Sport model which is what I think Kevr6 has. Did '09 Nismo models have the same anchors and hooks like me or is it new for 2010? -Are maybe all 2010's coming with these panels, because if so they didn't mention this change for 2010 with the heated mirrors and mico-filter? why don't you just tint the rear glass and get a backup camera?
|
I don't like dark tint and that still doesn't make whatever you have in the back covered. Any kind of light pretty much makes that idea useless. Also I'm not seeing how a rear view camera solves hiding your items and keeping things in the back from glaring or reflecting on the back glass/rear view mirror when driving.
|
why dont you get a daily driver and use your z as a fun car like me? problem solved. :D

I'm going to go by a dealer maybe this weekend and look at a touring just to confirm. Until then I welcome any further comments on the subject. kevr6 already told me on a PM it looks like it should go in. Thanks. |
Go test drive a touring and put the cover on the side of the road when driving it and go get it on the way home haha! JK

Small update. The part number for the rolling cover is:
84982-1EA0A |

Still don't know if 2010 Base/Sport are coming that way or not. |
tru dat, no hooks. didn't even think about it until i saw omnomz's T/S at the ZCoT meet
|
At least you already have some of the materials (IE panels, hooks). I wanted this earlier and after finding out how much it would cost to purchase and install...I'd rather use that money towards leather heated seats...
|
I'll be happy to sell my cargo cover (never used) for $250 and I'll pay for the shipping.
G FO12Ce gets first shot. |
JPIT,
Thanks a lot. I PM'd you what my local parts guy quoted me on a new one(he hooks it up good). Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. |
I thought I'd post an update. Thanks to Jpit for the rear cargo cover, it was packaged well and looks new.
I installed it and took a few pics. I also tried to take a pic of the glare before, the white plastic bag that was glaring didn't show well in pictures (probably because I didn't realize part of my backround was white) but the green towel did. You get the idea. I also took some pics of the cargo net I picked up. They are the same part number as the 350Z. I found one 15 minutes from me on Craigslist for $5! No Cargo Cover: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3604.jpg Glare (you can see the green towel in the upper right side of the rear glass): http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3613.jpg Cover & Cargo Net: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3608.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3609.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3617.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...Z/IMG_3611.jpg |
Hi, I've got the 2010 Nismo Z as well. I also appear to have those 'indentations' in the side panels that look like they are the "brackets" for the retractable cargo cover as well. Can you indeed confirm that all you needed was part number 84982-1EA0A and it was just a "drop in" install (you were just able to basically snap it in yourself, no need for a dealer install or mods to the car?)
Thanks! |
Dremkron, I can't confirm 100% the part number for you because I got mine used. However, just make sure that is just the retractable shade and that's all you need. Absolutely no need to have a dealer install it or buy any additional parts. It drops right in.

Awesome! Thanks so much. This has been my only regret about buying the Nismo (well, actually, that and the fact that I didn't get the GTR....)
Thanks again! Quote:

Also, make sure you check out the suspension thread in my signature about the Nismo if you haven't already. |
Sweet! I didn't know that the thingy even existed!

Um, OMG I just checked that thread. Sure enough. I had the same 3 little plastic spacers. Went to a tire shop, jacked it up, and removed them. Unbelievable. Thanks for the heads up otherwise I probably would have driven for months (or forever) and never would have known. |
Cool, that post is getting a lot of mileage. Glad it helped you.

I think retail is $305? A local Chicago dealer quoted me $277 for the rear cargo cover. Anyone interested in selling one they are not using?
|
Hey guys I know this thread is a little old but thought it may help some of you who are still searching for this part. The part number 84982-1EA0A is corrsct and if you are interested our cost to the370z.com members as of now is around $225.00! I hope this helps!

2009 base model owners
In case anyone with a 2009 base model wants to add this, you don't have to buy the entire panels. I just replaced my panels yesterday (because I got a REAL good deal) and found out that there are outlines on the speaker panels that can be cut out to add the bracket as well as on the bottom piece on the rear deck lid. You can buy all of the pieces for appr. $80 plus the touneau cover (which I also got a REAL good deal on :tiphat: ).
If anyone is interested, I can post pictures of the outlines as well as the parts needed. |

I think there is a diferent part number for the 370z cargo net. Cost is very different also.
|
Thanks

Any updates on this one? I really would like a rear cargo cover. The 350Z one would fit my bil as I could have the tote further to the front and also the net towards the back bumper area.
|
Cargo cover or cargo net?
