Yep I get that. Muscles in back and side of my neck are always tight and when really tight it actually pushes my head to sit a bit further forward. I used to adjust seat around it but was a pain so I just leave it in the same spot now - and go figure, it stays there!

OP, do you have kids or did you give a spare fob to a family member?

It was me. I've been flying over everyday at great expense and slightly moving your seat while you were off playing cricket.

If the Z uses the same screw actuator that I've seen on other cars, I doubt that you moving around in the seat is causing the problem. But I guess it's not impossible. A few wild guesses: you are accidentally bumping the button every now and then; someone is messing with you and adjusting the seat, changes in the way you are sitting (but you should get some forward movement with that). Good luck figuring it out.

I suppose you could always find that perfect spot again and unplug the connector/harness to the power seat motor.

I love this forum. I go to bed, I have a nice little sleep, I wake up, I make myself a nice cuppa, I turn on the computer and...

...2,349 new suggestions. Sadly...

...My kids have left home, so they're not to blame, my spare fob is in 'the secret place' and has never been used by anyone, least of all the wife, who hates fast cars and only ever goes near mine when she has to (conspiracy theories here, please).
I can't unplug the seat. If I did that, I wouldn't be able to make those tiny adjustments we know are so necessary.

You people have made me laugh out loud with some of your thoughts - thank you for them. Sadly I'm no nearer a solution. Part of me hopes that Seat Creep has not been heard of before. I'd love to be the proud creator of a new issue, 10 years into the car's history. Hopefully it could be named after me, like a new species of butterfly, or a disease.

Maybe get one of those Dashcams that record on movement and have it facing inside the vehicle. might be able to catch the ghost or a wifey that is rippin' **** up on the roads while you sleep

i think it's gremlins, probably at night when you're asleep. too bad Nissan didn't think of having memory settings. on my bmw which was 10 years older than my z, it had 3 different settings for 3 different drivers. when you found your sweet spot you'd press one of the buttons and hold it in and the memory was set so if someone adjusted it on you, all you had to do was press your button and the seat would automatically adjust to your personal setting. and that just wasn't forward and back, it was also for height and lumbar. maybe in 10 more years when the next generation z comes out.... come on Nissan get with it!

Oh my goodness!

I think I may have the evidence of The Seat Creep I've been testing for (feels like I've spotted the Loch Ness Monster)...

As you can see, the right hand side of the tape has moved considerably (the two RH sides were level, until this morning).

What's interesting is that I'd noticed no movement at all ever since I put the tape on, over a week ago. But yesterday, when I was leaning across the car, doing the vinyl roof wrap in my garage, I kept accidentally locking/unlocking the car because the key was in my pocket.

I DID NOT get into the car. I DID NOT accidentally touch the seat button (I'm in the UK, my car is RHD, so the seat button is next to the gear shift, not on the outside). I finished the roof wrap late at night, so I left the car in the garage overnight, unlocked, with the windows down.

Got in the car this morning, to reverse out of the garage, and noticed it felt different. Looked down at my tape - and you can see what I saw.

Ooooer!

Now, I'm as sceptical as the next man - and I can hardly believe my eyes, but the evidence is there, I think?

Any ideas how it's happened? Should I try replicating the movement by locking/unlocking the car several times again?
