Easy 12V constant and 12V switched to tap into?
Hi I'm trying to wire my boost gauge (Tanabe Revel Boost Gauge)
The instructions calls for tapping into a 12V constant and 12V switched. I googled a bit and found conflicting reports for the 12V constant. I read cigarette lighter was constant in one thread and switched in another thread. I'm hoping to just use two of those add a circuits things in the interior fuse box. Any ideas on which fuse to be adding for constant and which one for switched? Thanks and Merry Christmas! |
Update: Gave in and added a wire from battery to my gauge with 15amp fuse for constant. Tapped cigarette light for the switched source. Took me a couple hours but it works great!

Looks like you got it figured....
If you pull the fuse panel in the drivers foot well, you can usually figure which circuits will be constant or switched..(confirm with a meter) then just use the add-a-circuits. I used them to add terminal blocks for switched and constant so that adding new accessories going forward is super easy and clean. |
The start (ignition) fuse I think is the only one in the drive side fuse box that has constant power. I have power for my homelink mirror wired to it so I can open/close the garage door without the car having to be on.
A dedicated line from the battery works, too, of course. |
