LED Headlight Conversion

Hey guys, Have any of you replaced your HIDs with LED bulbs? I'm tired of my ballast going out and was thinking of going with a set of LEDs instead.

Default LED Headlight Conversion

Hey guys,

Have any of you replaced your HIDs with LED bulbs? I'm tired of my ballast going out and was thinking of going with a set of LEDs instead. Anyone have some installed? Thanks.

LED bulbs for replacements of HID/halogen is no good yet. LED technology is not quite there yet for replacement for HID bulbs.
I know, i have done Corolla LED projectors retrofits, Acura LED projectors, etc. Your better bed is the LED projectors i just mentioned but thats a waste of time for our car.

If your Ballast is going out, you should look into that. Quality ballast (OEM like Denso for example) last the entire life of the car.

BUT if you must know, you should become a hidplanet forum member. A library that is full of so much information your brain will explode. If you are wanting better output, i woudl start with clear lens, better ballast, high quality bulbs (Osram CBI). Our car's ballast are sensitive to aftermarket bulbs.

Good luck.

I have a used ballast that I pulled out of my wrecked headlight if you're interested.

It definitely sounds fishy if it keeps going out though. I've got nearly 107,000 miles on my car and have never replaced a shot ballast.

How about the LED that the q50 uses? Not completely sure if they're LED but they have really good output

I like the output of the stock HID's. I just wish they were whiter. They just about look like regular halogen color temp, say about 3200 Kelvin. I wish they were up there around the 4500k to 5000k mark.

+1

Also check that you are using the proper bulbs and that the wiring is good.

Purchase CBI bulbs. It used to be $199 for the pair but lately it has been going down. Check out The retrofit source. They have everything these days. Very high quality and exceptional customer service.

TreeSemdyZee, how much would you be willing to let it go for?
